Such a great little Japanese restaurant in Seddon! Not only is it a restaurant but there’s a selection of Japanese goodies for purchase near the kitchen(Hello Green Tea Kit Kats and Pocky!) I had the Kaarage(cooked to perfection) and the Nikuu Soba for lunch. My colleague had the Tonkatsu Don. We were both very very pleased with the dishes. The service was quick and staff so very friendly. Highly recommended and I will definitely return!

I’m so happy this humble little Japanese restaurant is local to me. None of this shopping centre food court business — this place is proper Japanese with quality produce. If you’ve got an authentic itch for Japanese cuisine then you should definitely come here. Their menu is wise range for both as sharing plates or mains. And I am pleased to say that I’ve had quite a lot of the dishes from my many trips here and they were all very good. To note: Salmon sashimi is so creamy and buttery. The tuna tataki is beautifully presented and delicious. Their rice don dishes are so good and satisfying on it’s own. and my goodness, their takoyaki is amazing! It’s not everyday you see takoyaki being sold, let alone the really delicious ones! They also have a generous sized beverage list — can’t really comment because my go to drink its always their Umeshu on the rocks(obsessed). Staff are absolutely lovely :) They also have a small little grocery with Japanese ingredients or sweets to take home. Not to mention their Japanese craft beers with my partners always scrambles to get to take home!

Cosy restaurant with friendly staff. Great tasting home-cooked style Japanese food. Smaller portions but that’s not a bad thing!

It was a nice little Japanese restaurant hidden away in Seddon. The courtyard was cosy and warm even in winter. The food was like home cooked Japanese meals simple and tasty. The portion was a little small considering the pricing. It was enjoyable overall

Fantastic little Japanese place in Seddon. Open most days for lunch and dinner. Court yard out the back with overhead heaters. Good range of food with Karaage chicken a personal favorite.

Once upon a time this was our local for Japanese. Very happy to take any opportunity to pop in again. Cosy and cute. Every aspect of the dining experience is enjoyable. Can’t help but admire the Made in Japan crockery, in particular. Each visit I have experienced such delightful, friendly and obliging service. The menu appears to have had a recent revamp, filled with impossibly sweet illustrations of every dish. However, there has been no change to the quality of produce or deliciousness of every dish. Tonight we shared numerous entrees; edamame(soy beans) — extremely fresh, salmon sashimi, takoyaki(octopus balls), and agedashi tofu. Followed by donburi for main. My partner had the katsudon(pork rice bowl) and I enjoyed the Ten Don(tempura rice bowl). I would definitely recommend all of these dishes. The quality of the salmon sashimi particularly impressed me, but I was also very pleased with the freshness of the vegetables. Also please note we did order a lot — not because the dishes were small… We were just very hungry(and maybe love getting all our favourite dishes). If you are a little bit inspired they also have shelves of Japanese Groceries to get you cooking at home!

I had been keen to visit here for quite sometime but as I live in the Eastern suburbs it had never been an overly convenient destination. Last night however I finally made it, and was so glad to find all the positive recommendations I’d had prior were 100% spot on! To start off, all the staff are incredibly accommodating and friendly which if the food/drinks were bad would automatically add an extra star to the review regardless. However, it gets better as the food is also top notch, highlights for us being the Sashimi(beautifully fresh), Karaage chicken & Green Tea Parfait(using their own homemade green tea ice cream). Having visited Japan in the last few years it really felt like we’d been transported back there! As for drinks, they have an excellent Japanese Craft beer selection, and also a great selection of Sake(and Sake Flights if you’d like to sample more than one). I can certainly say I wish we had visited sooner as it’ll now certainly become a regular for us!

Well that was absolutely DELICIOUS! Amazing array of Japanese craft beers to wash down any of the excellent menu options. We had edamame, takoyaki(octopus) and karaage(friend chicken) to start, all of which were delish. I had the tonkatsu meal set– fantastic pork served with mayo, salad, rice and miso soup. I love my local Seddon, and Ajitoya is such a great café/restaurant addition. The service was friendly and helpful, and the place was packed on a Wednesday night! Will definitely be back soon :)

Yes, a delicious addition to Seddon’s restaurant scene. After a trip to Tokyo and Kyoto in December one would think that I’d had enough of Japanese food but apparently not. The meals here are full of freshness and flavor — highly recommend the salmon or soba noodles. Prices are reasonable especially for the quality. Great beer and sake selection too… I’ll be back.

This great little mom and pop Japanese café is a swell addition to Charles Street. Expect friendly service from the husband and wife owners and delicious, homey eats. The panko crusted pork is my favourite: Crispy, juicy slices of piggy goodness served with a dollop of kewpie mayo and a sweet, spicy sauce. It comes with a hearty bowl of miso and vegetable soup, a cup of rice sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds, and the salad of the day. The salad could be smoked salmon with shredded salmon and apples, or chicken and cabbage in a wasabi dressing. They’re all pretty tasty. Ajitoya also serves pour overs and makes a decent flat white. Our new local for brunch, lunch, or dinner.
