Sounds weird to say, but the grilled tomato that came with my breakfast was the tastiest bloody tomato I’ve ever had and it blew me away. Everything else was good. Good specials, not too pricey. Good service –staff were friendly, speedy, and helpful. Can recommend. Have the tomato.

I think the previous reviews capture the spirit of this little café. The only thing I wanted to add was that I got the Chilli Con Carne and, as a Texan, it was some of the best Chilli Con Carne that I’ve had. Certainly the best down under.

Tried out this surprising little café for brunch this afternoon. Bunyip is a very relaxed environment, super catering for families, friendly and familiar service, with a good meal! There are times where I can be a bit fussy, and will struggle to find something on a menu that strikes my fancy. However, there was literally nothing on Bunyip’s menu that I wouldn’t order. Everything sounded good! My dining companion had the ideal brunch dish of the BART with a side of delicious chips, while I had the pappardelle. We left full and content. Also plenty of outdoor seating to observe the hustle and bustle of South Melbourne Market from a distance on a less blustery day!

Nice little market-side café with a straight forward, well priced menu. Inside and outside seating is quite cosy. I had the beef burger which was enjoyable. They serve coke instead of Pepsi which in my book rates them a little higher :)

Cute on the inside, and lovely on the outside in the sunshine. Food is pretty good, service is great and friendly. Love coming here for brunch, so conveniently located across the road from South Melbourne Markets. The coffees are great — make sure you order a large coffee(or chai latte!). Their pain au chocolat is delicious, and so are their black puddings. The bacon is also cooked perfectly, still juicy. The hash browns fall apart a little, and their corn fritters are a tad solid. Love the atmosphere, service, price, food, location. Always head to the booths =) They also have a cute pram parking section for mums and bubs.

Café that does breakfast, lunch, coffee? Seen it. Café that has gluten-free options or menu edits available, café that has lovely young lasses waiting tables, café that is very reasonably priced? Seen it. Café that is decorated in a 50s diner theme, whilst still remaining very Australian? Well, that’s new. So are the cutest little milk bottles the«milk on the side» is served in with tea. And the lovely menu that lists the«local produce» used in the food — from the market over the road — with stall numbers so you can find those tomatoes yourself. Quite nice, actually.
