Great service, amazing food and lively ambiance. Would definitely come back. Enjoyed the poached eggs with cured salmon, definitely dish of the day. Coffee was amazing as well if you’re a coffee lover. Definitely drop by with friends or even by yourself, everyone is welcoming and an awesome hidden gem.

Excellent time! However… Visited here Saturday with a friend. Firstly, made the mistake(due to being so tired) of actually having my friends coffee instead of the one I ordered. However, coffees were excellent. You guys could make it a little hotter when someone orders a hot coffee though. Food wise; I ordered the avo mash and fetta. What amazed me was the fact it was the best mash I’ve had in Melbourne… the mint, fetta and avo were so balanced and the flavours were superb. You could also taste the delicious lemon infusion. It was an ABSOLUTE perfect balance! The only negative was it was one piece of toast so I was still a bit hungry… however they were extremely generous with the mash amount. Staff; staff were excellent upon arrival and exiting. Consistently filled water, smiled, and were so friendly at the till to us cheers!

There is a cute little terrace in the backyard where dogs are welcome(for the #doglovers out here). The food was good but comes in very small portion. We were a group of 7 and the 7th person waited for their food a while(although the same food was served for another person in our group). I ordered an orange juice and it took ages to arrive.

I’ve been meaning to come here for a while but it never made it to the shortlist. Glad my friends decided to have a late breakfast here on this lovely,(surprisingly) sunny Sunday morning. Nice café with a great layout and friendly staff! Menu has quite a few options with the usual eggs, smashed avocado(I saw plenty of smashed avos coming out of the kitchen while we were there), some specials and a great choice of lunch options as well. I had a mushroom, cream cheese, spinach(and extra bacon) toasted sandwich and it was truly delicious! Exactly what I needed after a big Saturday night! The coffee was really nice, but I’ll have to go back to write more about that. I was way too focused on my yummy sandwich!

After living in Vegas for a month we were dying for a good coffee and breakfast!(Why is it soo difficult to get good coffee and eggs in Vegas??) First stop after a shower… Dr Jekyll! I love that service is attentive but not in your face. My fave spot is to sit in the corner by the coffee machines and with my back to the window so I can watch them make the food and prepare the coffees. Today I picked poached Dr Jekyll Eggs with enough Chorizo for every mouthful(I hate it when breakfast places don’t give you chorizo!) and the touch of feta is lovely. The breakky burger was calling my partner and he absolutely loves it. And the coffees. We love this place and will definitely be back!

I could not recommend this place highly enough! A beautiful interior, wonderful service, gorgeous outside seating area(with blankets and heaters set up to protect you from the chilly seaside breeze), and delicious food at an extremely competitive price. I can highly recommend the housemade baked beans with avocado and goats fetta! The coffee was delicious, and as if that wasn’t enough, they donate 5c from every coffee sold to the homeless shelter down the road. The only downside to this place is that now I cannot stop comparing my breakfasts to the one I experienced here!

Excellent St. Kilda breakfast/lunch joint. Smashed Avo is pretty out of this world– generous servings, especially when avocado is so pricey these days! Get a poached egg on the side and enjoy the sourdough/avo/feta/minty deliciousness. Coffee options are excellent, and they do a great cold filtered coffee too! Service is friendly & lovely. There’s a gorgeous outdoor courtyard to chill in, and everything on the menu is pretty yum. It’s a good place, no pretentiousness and I’ve loved every second I’ve spent there.

Probably the best coffee in St Kilda. Try the seasonal blends and on a hot day the cold drip.

Dr Jekyll is a great small café slightly off the beaten path in St Kilda. There is an awesome(and usually crowded) back terrace which is perfect for a late brunch or an afternoon coffee. Brunch is your typical Australian fare, very egg heavy, but some nice additions like porridge with stewed apple and rhubarb. Lunch is also a treat, and the steak sandwich is highly recommended… nicely cooked thin meat on fresh bread. Whatever you do though, make sure you get the cold drip coffee… it’s an unqiue take on an ice coffee served with a nice vanilla syrup though you don’t need really need the syrup as it’s perfect to drink black on the rocks. They usually have 3 flavours on offer, so ask your server for their suggestion. Speaking of which the staff here is very friendly and they remember you(and your order) after just a few visits. There is free wifi but it’s painfully slow, so better tether your laptop and to stick 4G if you plan to work from the terrace.

Just returned to Melbourne for a brief visit and it was refreshing to eat organic real food. The bread and eggs were great. Although they were out of the house cured trout, they gave smoked salmon instead. The poached eggs were perfectly coked. I was disappointed with the coffee and have higher expectations from Melbourne baristas. It was way too milky and not enough ‘crema’. Other than that, the waitress didn’t pay too much attention when I asked for no butter on the toast. I also received the butt end of the bread as one of the pieces of toast so was a little disappointed and the salmon serve was not very generous. All in all, the food was great and the atmosphere was good. There is an outside patio which was lovely. A good place for brunch even if a little overpriced. The chefs were extremely friendly.

As a st kilda resident quite often you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to cafes and dining. Hands down this ticks every box. Lovely staff/service, amazing food and coffee, plenty of inside and outdoor space and wifi. I cannot fault and it would take a lot to shift you from favourite spot. See you for smashed avocado this weekend :)

Cold drip is commendable, long black single origin is delectable, 4.4 stars in my books. Nice little courtyard out the back too. Worth a look.

Look, I’ve been down this way so many times down to 95 or to Miss Jackson or something. Never have I thought of coming to Dr Jekyll. I don’t even know why, I knew it was there, just didn’t seem to pay much attention to it. Today I broke that habit. Pretty happy I did too. I’d now like to think of this place as my favourite in St. Kilda. I had their house blend coffee here today and I really enjoyed it. Not sure exactly what it was but it was most certainly a good coffee. The place is really nice with a great layout. Next time I come here, I think I’ll try the courtyard out the back.

This place is cool. With staff that are friendly and accommodating and über amazing coffee.(I can only write on the coffee & café as I haven’t eaten here yet) Even though this place was super busy when I came, I was really impressed with the staff and how they made me feel. Coffee was excellent. Go here if you are in the area.

I love this place! With the super friendly staff that greats you at the door, the wonderful coffee and the most amazing food, it’s definitely great that its on the way to school in the morning. The breakfast menu specials are all I’ve had there for breakfast and they are delicious! The lunch menu is amazing too. This place is definitely a gem and its obvious why it’s packed on the weekends for breakfast!

How nice are the people who work here! I was doing volunteer work down the road at the Sacred Heart Mission kitchen for the underprivileged, and here was a great place for a quiet escape. The coffee was great, I was greeted by the owner who did my group of 4 the courtesy of remembering the order when we returned for a second time on the same day. HOTTIP: Try the awesome outdoor area out the back. You wont be disappointed.

Now here is a café that cares more about its customers rather than focusing on being too cool for school. Once you work out where this café is located, you’ll be stoked that you found it. The vibe is cool, calm and collected, serving all-day breakfast and lunch off an appealing menu from a teeny tiny kitchen. The inside of the café is warm and inviting, whilst the courtyard out back is green and leafy, and magnificently calming. The food is yummy, the coffee is swell, and the owners are genuinely interested in how your day is going. It does get busy like all the cafes in the area, but why don’t you step outside the box and checkout Dr Jekyll for a nice change of scenery. Tip: Café signage is difficult, so keep your eyes peeled.

Oh how I love thee; most notably for your excellent back courtyard area. You have delivered a great concept to an area that remains somewhat questionable. Jekyll has the hott combination right now; breakfast and lunch café. Porridge, muesli and of course all the necessary egg options are available for breakfast. And, as I noticed too late after ordering, a breakfast burger. Darn! On reading this sounds marvellous and that’s without even tasting it. Specials are also available on a daily basis, most of which excel. Sides can be added as options for breakfast too. Quinoa porridge, is more silky in texture than the regular kind, yet fundamentally the same product. Service is good, just what it needs to be; direct, personable and unobtrusive without being too cloying. Good food recommendations, and in my case tailoring of lunching options were made. Hopefully this will all cohese into further brightening of the area. The back courtyard features a communal area from the other tenancies, but it’s so attractive, with greenery and good design, that it doesn’t detract. There’s some excellent lunch options, most of which are in baguette form, of which Melbourne has a long established love affair. The baguette with goat’s cheese mushroom, onions and peppers, could have done with more goats cheese– But, this has more to do with my unyielding and rapacious appetite for goat’s cheese than anything else. Coffee quality is quite good, but I’m not sure of the blend. Today Jekyll features a small and happy dog, with loads of energy whom has decided to bound around energetically, doing laps of the back courtyard. I lost count after around 283 laps or so. Jekyll is the place you come for comfort food; and a simple satisfying meal. The only downside I suspect, would be on weekends, when due to it’s popularity, Jekyll would be chaotic. I would expect a grandiose«proverbial fight» for free tables, it must be hard on the staff. Kudo’s to them, at least an expectant, anticipatory, hypothetical one.

Nom nom nom… this place has great grub! I’ve had lunch here on many occasions as I work next door and have only had one or two mediocre meals. The jekyll sandwich is fantabulous! Any of the salad specials are delish(quinoa was the most recent and sells out quickly). The soups are tasty, the coffees are good. Enough said. There’s a cutey British boy that’ll flirt with you when you’re ordering your coffee, yes please!

I’m not condoning this kind of behaviour… but let’s just say you woke up one morning — your face resting in drool on the pillow, your eyes smudged with mascara and your memory hazy about the night before. You remember cider. A bartender friend handing you a shot. You remember gin, and a late night bottle of Malbec… ouch. I mean, just imagine! Imagine the kind of coffee that would be required to turn all that around and set you right for a day full of chores, meetings and to-do lists. Well this is where Dr Jekyll comes in. A bright and airy café set in the relatively quiet part of St Kilda, the good doctor will fix all your ailments — plying you with a very fine cup of coffee and giving you a giant glass of water while you sit in the corner, sunglasses firmly planted on your face. There’s a great menu too, if you have the stomach for it.
