This is one of my favorites local restaurants, my partner and I have been going there almost since it opened. It offers truly authentic Vietnamise cuisine and the menu has everything from soups to noodles and salt and pepper pork(the best!), their m tomato rice is the perfect combination with nearly every meal. Service could be better, when the owner is there she is super welcoming however this is not always the case. If you are looking to try something new, very casual and seriously tasty, this is a must!

Song Nhi is hidden away on Chandos St away from most of the other restaurants and cafes in St Leonards, so it’s easy to forget about. Additionally, as it’s more of a restaurant than a café, it’s better to visit as part of a group. I’ve mainly been here as part of work lunches, and luckily they’ve booked in groups of up to 20 people for my company, which is great. It’s great that they’ve fit us all in, but the downside is that it’s sometimes a long wait for your dish, as they’re brought out one by one from the kitchen. We’ve also usually had to order in advance. Getting on to the actual food, they have an extensive menu, but my pick would be the vermicelli noodle salads. They’re lovely and fresh, and quite light and healthy. Just perfect for lunch, particularly in summer! The prices are quite good — around $ 10 or $ 11 I believe.

We(our company) love this place so much we have made our Thursdays to be Phở’s-days! Very very reasonable prices with good authentic Vietnamese food. Whether you decide to dine in or take away the food is served within 300 seconds. If you don’t want to wait, call before hand and it’ll be ready by the time you get there. Personal favourites are their pork chops, special combination beef noodle soup and the BUNBOHUE! — spicy version of the beef noodle soup!

Excellent Phở for $ 10. Can’t go wrong. In fact everything I have had from their menu has been delicious.

A shard of glistening jade lies on the desolate concrete ribbon of Chandos St. A South East Asian tang wafts across the suburban fringes of downtown Crowie and towards the St Leonards business district(such as it is). This food is phở real, yo. Song Nhi haven’t shot the eye teeth out of their choice of location, but what they lack in this area they make up for in broth. Great steaming bowls of it. Fragrant, lightly oiled, stuffed with fresh bean shoots, sharp winter mint, delicate vermicelli and beef shaved as thin and rare as Lara Flynn Boyle(as an aside, have you seen her face lately? What happened there? On the plus side, she won’t need to buy a mask next Halloween). Get the intestines if you have the stomach for it. What the hell, go for broke and get the spicy version and dump a bowl of fresh chopped red chili in there. Unless you’re not(wo)man enough, of course. Hey, there’s no shame if you aren’t*. *Yes there is.

Lunch was phở-nomimal! The beef soup was phở-king phở-tastic! Even the Vietnamese coffee, in all its sweet and rich deliciousness hit the phở-king spot. Yes… if you had not guessed, I really enjoyed my lunch here. While there was a heap on the menu, as soon as I sipped the deliciously rich and clear beef broth, I knew I had made the right choice. I went for the beef special because, frankly, who doesn’t like a bit of tripe every now and then. This place is a great option in St Leonards. Try them out if you get the chance.
