This was the worst meal I’ve eaten in a long time, and the service leaves much to be desired. We were just looking for a quick and easy burger as my partner and I had had a huge tiring day at work and couldn’t be bothered making dinner. We headed there around 5:45pm on a Tuesday afternoon. There were probably only 2 other couples in there but most of the tables were reserved. Which would usually suggest to me that it was a great place to dine, but this was not so. I had a cheeseburger and my partner had a steak. The cheeseburger tasted cheap and processed. As if it had not been handmade, rather thawed out and cooked. The chips were overcooked and over-seasoned. My partner commented that the only good thing about his meal was the salad! The service leaves much to be desired. The staff were so busy talking amongst themselves and dancing with each other to the music to pay attention to the customers dining in the room. I never mind waiting for service when a place is busy(having been a waitress myself and know what it’s like to be under the pump) but when the place is practically empty and I counted at least 6 servers in the store + a manager and bartender? I would expect some attention. It took ages to order another round of drinks. All in all, it was way overpriced and poor quality that we definitely won’t be coming back.

Like other reviewers, this place really is not worth it. The theme and setup could have worked, but the service is mediocre and the food was below average. I have had much better ribs elsewhere, so go somewhere else for your rib fix.

Been there twice — disappointed twice. The second time was because my mate wanna try it out. Basically what they offer aren’t good, on a Sunday afternoon where there are only a few tables, it still took them 15 mins just to take my order… Seriously?

Not impressed yet. They started off good but things seem to be going backwards. First off, they have the perfect location to be successful but… We did lunch and even though we were quick to be seated that’s where the service stopped. When our food arrived it was ok. The chicken schnitzel was good, I had rump and ribs, not bad but claiming to be famous for ribs… I don’t think so. My daughter had the kids meal but after waiting for more than 20 minutes after we all finished our food I got up to pay and leave, without her getting ice cream as offered on the menu. When paying I was offered immediate service for the outstanding ice cream but I just paid, made a comment about the poor service and bought my daughter an ice cream from Wendy’s. If you want good ribs… look around. If only the owner /manager realises what a gem they have on that spot.

Nice idea, very poor execution. Visited here with a friend, who’s a confessed carnivore and loves his meat. The short version is there’s simply better places around Perth if this is what you seek. It’s obvious that the owners have invested significant cash in the fit-out of the restaurant — but too much was spent on look and feel, and not enough on customer comfort. Firstly, lets talk about outside seating and bi-fold windows for the inside areas at the start of a Perth winter. NO! Nobody wants to sit outside at this time of year unless they absolutely have to, nor should anyone inside have to feel the cool air from outdoors. The failure to invest in making their outside dining area covered and sheltered is the first sign that this is an underdone execution. And the bathrooms — too much focus on show, not enough on function. Full sized wine barrels for basins take up too much room. And when you have customers eating large portions of ribs(where you don’t provide a bowl at the table to clean their fingers), you need to have a working soap dispenser to clean your hands afterwards(hint: there was a soap dispenser, but it wasn’t working, was empty, and had fallen off the wall and not been re-installed). Secondly, service times. Our experience reflects that from the reviews already made here — hodge podge, disorganised, and slow. It shouldn’t take 10min after being seated to get the menu. It shouldn’t take 15min after clearing entrees for your mains to arrive. Food quality — If you’re a steakhouse, when your customer asks for medium rare — they expect it that way. Knowing how to cook meat properly is one of the basic things customers will expect from such an establishment. Serving a medium eye fillet when medium rare was requested is just not on. And finally, settling up the bill. Customers shouldn’t have to wait, and staff shouldn’t be carrying on personal conversations at the counter whilst customers are standing in line. Give this place a miss everyone — it’s not worth the time, frustration, and poor quality. You’d be far better off going to Hogs Breath or something similar.

Read all the reviews on here prior to going. They have been busy doing a letter box drop in the local area promoting a FREE entrée of ribs, this was my prompt to give the place a try? Service was slow the staff were friendly but seemed in go slow mode. As every free offer, the catch is Pork Ribs only are available when ordering a main meal, my dining partner went for the Rump with salad and mash and I had the ribs as my main meal. Both meals came out 5 or 6 minutes apart but were large enough and both tasty and filling. Lots of tables left with plates still on after diner had vacated, I would visit again but not in a hurry.

Where can I start with the abonomation that is Lonestar. Well my family came here on a Thursday night for my mums birthday, we used to love this place back in the day and thought we would try it out, but it had very few similarities to the original besides the peanuts and the name. When we got there and got a seat a waiter came to wipe down our table and proceeded to wipe everything unto us, my lap was filled with crumbs and onions and he didn’t seem to notice or care. We then ordered drinks however it took over 25 minutes to just get them, and while you’re eating peanuts to pass the time thirst builds up quickly(and with no water at your tables you just have to wait). We ordered food which was rather pricey especially for the quality(I’ll get to that later). We sat and waited a while until we started to notice how much time had passed, when we finnaly started to complain amongst ourselves a waiter came and reassured us it was on its way. He obviously had no idea when the food was coming he was just trying to keep us happy with fake reassurance. A long time after we were told it was on its way we finnaly got our meals, an hour and a half had passed since we first ordered. This is unacceptable at any restaurant and maybe if staff said something or were the slightest bit apologetic about the wait it wouldn’t have been as bad but none of them seemed to care. When we finnaly started to eat it was evident our meals werent fresh from the kitchen, the ribs and wings were cold and covered in warm bbq sauce to make the meals appear hot. The food was disqusting to say the least and when it is covered in thick layers of tar like sauce it was sickening. After 3 or 4 wings the sauce becomes overwhelmingly sweet to the point it stings you’re tounge. The ribs were eatable however they consited of 80% fat strap and 20% meat and when you pay $ 35 for ribs you expect them to be of good quality especially from a so called ‘rib house’. So to summarise this is the worst restaruant I have ever eaten at, 0 customer service and very average food. My rating is very fitting as this place is getting loan star.

I didn’t find Lone Star to be particularly great unfortunately, and I don’t know that what I didn’t like about it would be considered teething issues. The service was friendly, not prompt, but not painfully slow either. We were upsold with two choices of sauce for the chicken wings, but led to believe we would be paying the price for 12 wings rather than two serves of 6 wings(which costs more than ordering 12). The wings were visibly hairy — I tried to look past it but couldn’t bring myself to eat them, the flavour wasn’t enough to justify knowing a hairy chicken wing would be sliding down my throat. I ordered salad, which I never expected to be their specialty, and it met my expectations. The boys ordered burgers, which were ok, but we would have been better off just going to Grill’d next door.

Again, this is one of those times where I find myself scratching my head as I walk out. I was pretty darn excited to try this place because I remember going to Lonestar as a kid in maddington and they did boot scooting and the whole«peanut shell on the floor thing», which goes against everything your mother taught you but dammit it was liberating at 9 years old. anyway. not a great experience. On the food front, the kids food was just frozen and deep fried nuggets or microwaved pizza. not cool. I had the garlic prawns and I’m on the verge of revisiting their now half digested appearance because I’m not sure I can keep it down much longer-not cool. Hubby had chicken parmigiana-his words were, «no-just-no» My mum got the grilled chicken which was a huge hit but it was the only hit out of our 10 person table. The service was atrocious, it seemed like they had ample staff only, those staff were there to clear tables and THAT’S IT, they couldn’t actually help you in the way of getting a drink etc. very annoying. We had to ask several times to get drinks –again, irritating. The girl who served us personally was an absolute gem, it was just getting her attention and over our way that proved to be a challenge! The play equipment just outside is entertaining for the little ones so kudos there. but that’s just by chance-it doesn’t belong to the restaurant so no points there! And finally at the end of the day, if I’m paying those prices, I may as well be going somewhere, where I truly enjoy the experience like Zafferanos and not only dine in style with food I know that’s going to taste good but a quality of service that is unparalleled and the reason you keep going back. I get it, massive meals, kid friendly blah blah blah. but nope, this place is not for me.

Not worth it at all unfortunately. Service was good but they did not deliver what their name portrays them to be. Rib house with below average ribs is not cool. The meat was tender and you know it was slowly cooked but the gravy/marinating sauce that was used tasted very artificial and chemically. Not a fan sorry To make things worse, the coselaw was off and the chips weren’t crispy and hot. Looked like everything were sitting on a bench ready to be plated, and they just lather some rib sauce before serving. Only thing that was great were the free nuts that you get to help yourself as you enter the restaurant. Don’t think I will be heading to this place anytime soon. Was really looking forward to some great ribs but I might have set my expectations too high. What do you other helpers think?

I was extremely excited to hear a Lone Star had opened up as part of the new additions at gateways Cockburn as I haven’t seen one around since childhood. The waitstaff were amongst the most helpful and polite I’ve ever had and the service was extremely quick. The food was a little bit disappointing however. The ribs were fatty and gristly and the rib eye was probably not worth the price either. Overall however, if you are looking for a place with a good atmosphere and great service this is the one for you.

The only thing ‘Texas style’ about this place is the name. Generic frozen chips(can’t be bothered hand cutting?), boring powdered«mash», chilli cheese fries — no, chilli cheese CHIPS — with bland cheddar cheese baked under the grill(just can’t substitute for that real liquid cheese goodness!)…just didn’t live up to my expectations. Food: The tasty pork ribs just fell off the bone! Though for nearly $ 30 for the ‘small’ serve(and it is small) we were a little underwhelmed with the portion size. The ‘Dallas’ burger was tasty enough but hopefully that’s not their best burger on the menu. As above, the cheese fries(with chilli?) were a big disappointment. Chips with melted cheddar cheese have no place being called ‘cheese fries’. Do not get these. Service: This place gets busy… real busy. Make sure you have a booking. Once seated, flagging down a server isn’t the easiest thing but the food and drink comes pretty quick once you’re in the system. Overall: Quite a disappointing experience hence the 2 star ‘meh’ rating. If we hadn’t waited so long to get our order in for food, we would have complained about the food but we were just too hungry. The South African chap who took our payment was the only real positive of the night, the apology and the free cheese fries on return voucher might see us back in a few months once they’ve listened to complaints and made some positive changes. I’ve travelled and eaten in the US, my expectations weren’t that high for a restaurant in Perth to emulate that same taste but for me, next time I would rather Lonestar Ribhouses’ parent company Outback Jacks 10 minutes away in Fremantle. Better food for the same money.

Seriously? Lone Star is back?! I’m not quite sure how this happened but one of my favourite childhood restaurants appears to have made a comeback. Yes, the peanuts are there. Shelling those little suckers is a great way to pass the time after ordering, but customers are warned not to brush the shells onto the floor. Rather than a steakhouse, this place bills itself as a «rib house». You’d hope those ribs are great, as they aren’t cheap. Steaks were also on the pricier side — up to $ 40. If I’m going to pay that much, I might as well go to Rockpool. The steak knives are awesome and I suspect a few future customers may try to pinch them. We opted for a burger and a schnitzel, and there were plenty of varieties of both. Both were reasonably sized and tasted nice. Not OMG amazing, but I would eat it again. There’s lots of play equipment just outside the restaurant, so I can see this being a hit with families. It’s not really one for a romantic couples evening.
