I’ve been coming here since opening. It has maintained its standards and I find their sashimi and sushi really good, their seafood fresh and yummy. I’d highly recommend their spicy scallops entrée, baked smoked salmon sushi and their octopus balls. Best to bring your own wine though… as their alcohol list is very limited and their sake not great. It’s brightly lit so not the most romantic restaurant in the area. but decent consistent food.

Ah, yes. This is the good stuff. Finally! It was pretty loud with a table of kids behind us and no wall coverings, but that was the only bad thing all night. We took our own wine(2.50/head corkage) because Japanese restaurants have notoriously bad wine lists. Didn’t see a wine list so not sure if that’s the case here. Anyway, the food was a little slow coming out(this was their second night open) but when it arrived it was delicious! I could fault nothing. Sashimi was fresh, sushi was incredible, tataki had great flavor. What a lovely night. We’ll be back. Probably often.

Fujiyama opened in Summer Hill this week and oh lord don’t the local love it!!! I called up to check they were open on Tuesday and made a booking(not anticipating I’d actually need to!). When we arrived at 7:30 the place was PACKED. Every table was full and there was a line of folk waiting for their take away. Pretty impressive for day 2 of business. The fit out is pretty nice, although there is a lot of bare surfaces and the noise level was LOUD. Not such a problem if you’re with one other person, but at a group table it would make conversation a challenge. The food was fresh and prices were reasonable. We tried the Black Horenso(because I’d read that the Leichhardt version was awesome), the Fujiyama Scallops, Tataki, Sashimi and Boston Roll. All the food was great. My only complaint was that the tataki was sliced a bit think and a tiny serve. Fujiyama is BYO with a $ 2.50 corkage charge per head, not bad at all. So we took along a bottle of wine. I could see there was sake on offer with the banquet menu, but otherwise I didn’t see a wine list(maybe because they saw we had our own). All up we has a great feed for $ 68 between 2. Not bad. I’ll be back, and I will make sure to book!
