We love xiaolongbao, the small Chinese buns served in a bamboo steamer and containing a little pork and scalding hot soup. Some people call them soup dumplings. I noticed that Little Red Dumpling, one of many small restaurants in the Pinelands Plaza shopping strip, advertised«xiao long bao» on their online menu so we gave it a taste test. The restaurant is small but attractive with unusual lacquered timber slab tables and small backless stools. The stools allow more room for customers but we had to sidle up against the wall to rest our backs. The soup dumplings were delicious. We ate them as an entrée. My companion’s main course of chicken noodle soup was too bland. My braised beef on rice was quite acceptable but nothing special. Service was efficient and very pleasant. 4 stars for the xiaolongbao but only 3 stars for the mains.
