Fantastic place, breezy, friendly service and great food. Well worth the visit. I’ll be returning for the ribs, they looked fantastic.

Order the barramundi! Entrée’s were excellent. Make sure you get the muscles in the creamy white sauce — they are amazing. Friends said the steaks were average, however the barramundi was a real show stopper. Will definitely come again.

Fantastic spot! Huge portions. If you can finish the ½ rack of Ribs and ½ Peri Peri Chicken then your a bigger and better man than me! Almost got there, but this 6’2215lb bloke that spent the day walking around Seaworld couldn’t knock it off, I’m not sure you can. Unless your Joey bloody Chestnut your probably not gonna make it! Haha. The ribs were absolutely fantastic! Some of the best I’ve had, and I’ve lived in Texas! The Peri Peri Chicken was delicious too, but could’ve been a tad spicier. I still enjoyed it immensely, but I like my Peri Peri much hotter. On the whole, I recommend this place as a solid spot that you will walk away full and happy about your meal. The service was good, although a bit slow when the place is packed. I give it 4 ½ stars. Not just the 4 that it shows me giving. Enjoy people!

We made the mistake of selecting this restaurant for a meal whilst we were on the Gold Coast. As soon as we walked in the door and saw the menu I knew it would not go well. I wanted a Wagyu steak which is an $ 80 item on the menu but there was no way of knowing what to expect and nothing on display to discriminate it, which is normal in our experience when premium steaks are on offer. I bravely and foolhardily ordered my wagyu. A steak duly arrived that the server then told us was in fact something else? I then questioned our waitress who said she went to the kitchen and confirmed that it was in fact a Wagyu steak. Doubt passed through me and I cautiously took a taste of the steak proffered. It was sour and did not exhibit the buttery flavour that is normal with Wagyu. I told the waitress it did not taste right and said i would not eat it. After a suitable interlude the manager arrived and stated that he had been into the kitchen and confirmed no less, he confirmed, that I had not received a Wagyu steak, and would I consider having my order filled correctly. I politely declined as my appetite and trust had been dissolved at this point. The manager was persistent to the point that he returned again and through no small effort on his part — encouraged me to have a new«Wagyu» steak. I acquiesced to his suggestion in the hope that I would get what I thought was my premium steak, given the amount of effort the gentleman put in. I have to state that after this theatre started not one member of staff came near us for drinks or anything else. I duly received another steak which did have the buttery flavour of Wagyu but I have no way of knowing whether it was truly what I ordered. More effort on the part of the manager involved offering us free deserts which we were grateful to him for. However, if feed back is a gift then do not put a premium item of meat on the menu unless you can clearly discriminate it to the customer. I certainly was not convinced I got what I paid for. I doubt their business model will change given their customer base on the Gold Coast but I would also never recommend them as a premium steak house destination either. Just by way of closure on this dissertation, we travelled to Darwin and had a steak up there where everything on offer was clearly displayed in a refrigerated glass case and you knew exactly what you were getting when it came to selecting a premium cut of meat. I now know I did not get my Wagyu steak at Hurricane based on this simple comparison.

This place has a great atmosphere, great food, and a great view! Definitely worth the money as I was with a group of 5 and we all loved our meals! Sizes are large so don’t really require starters. As for the service — the girls sat us down and did not ask if we wanted drinks, after about 10 minutes I had to wave someone down. Also they don’t seem to be looking after particular tables themselves as we were asked several questions multiple times by different staff. Very frustrating when you’ve said you don’t want desert and are in the middle of a conversation and get asked again another 2 times! Other than that, 4 out of 5 from me.

A cool wind to start the school holidays in the recently opened Hurricane bar in Surfers, positioned up one level with a vista showcasing the amazing surf beach in our beautiful GC. In past we have frequented the bar, tall stools, ocean views, and attentive service, culminating with a great cocktail session of which an afternoon can evolve into evening frivolity. On this occasion my beautiful Bella, dressed for the winter bite, ever so chic and sexy with a booking on window side to showcase the view. We arrived to be announced with our booking, clever, precise, seated in a minute, very systematic, very professional and well trained staff led by an ever present captain, dressed in loafers, navy blazer and confidence unequalled. Our menus although the bible style of which I am not a fan, showcased the extensive cocktail, beer, cider and such, although we had just consumed a bottle of French bubbles, I was after a wonderful glass or two of a gutsy Barossa Shiraz or Heathcote cabernet, alas most of the list was focused on bottles and as I surveyed the perimeter I noticed large tables all focused on hunting, gathering and enjoying their carnivore experience. So choosing a glass, we were explained the specials, but this big boy had heard about the steaks, ribs and burgers, so the steaks ranging in sizes from 300 gram to a huge 1 kg enough zinc and iron to satisfy all body types. Bella chose the scotch, I chose the rump, both Angus and aged appropriately, a description befitting the wonderful beef being farmed in our beautiful country. Sauces were chosen, including the South African tangy bring back many fond memories of BBQ with many Safa mates. Offered the usual large carb infused potato, sour cream although very dated is always popular to use as a visual filler of the plate and overshadow the lack of construction on the chefs behalf, fries are offered and as I view, proving very popular on plates around the sea of diners. As we chat, tables are emptied, reset and refilled with teamwork equal to army like precision and hungry carnivores are resat to satisfy those holiday hungers created by sea air and holiday mode. Our steaks arrived, wonderful smells, simple presentation and no blood setlage on the plate showing the resting time to be perfect, my first incision showed the beautiful ruby colour of medium rare, seasoned well and tasting of earth, grain and the beast. Our sides are huge, steamed green of broccoli, sno peas and crisp beans, seasoned well and the wonderful crunch. The sauces, rich although traditional style, showcasing a weak stock, but reduced and camouflaged with red wine, garlic and cream, the pepper similar but still enjoyable and little conversation was Enticed as we enjoyed these wonderfully prepared beasts. The menu has many options, but vegans should venture elsewhere but if you are after, a great steak or ribs or burgers, cooked well, served simply with very professional service and a view to enjoy, have a crack at Hurricanes you will enjoy it, enjoy !!!

Dined here last week as part of a group of 20 for a Work Conference on the Gold Coast. It was my first time at Hurricanes but I have been to the competitors Ribs & Rums, Outback Steakhouse, Outback Jacks, Tony Romas, Hogs Breath & Lone Star had all their ribs so can compare quite well! The ribs here were great, tasty with plenty of meat & well marinated they came with a side of chips which were also tasty. The highlight of the meal was actually the garlic bread so so very tasty possibly the best garlic bread I have ever had. We also had some Salt & Pepper Squid which was also delish and a yummy Salad. Overall I was fan of all the food. The only downside was that service was very very slow they could so some improving in that area but overall I am a fan!

Poor customer service and ribs didn’t taste as good as Sydney Hurricane’s. Don’t bother.
