Everybody’s heard about the bird. Well in Surrey Hills Peking Duck is the word. Three course meals here go for around $ 55. The way it usually pans out for me is Peking duck pancakes for starters, followed by duck soup and then noodles, both of which contain some of your duck that has been shredded behind the scenes after being cut at your table. I recommend trying some of their Chinese broccoli as a side for a vegetable kick too. So what about this duck I hear you ask. The duck here is up there with the best I’ve had. You know a Peking duck restaurant is good when you arrive there, as almost every patron is Chinese. And it gets rammed here I must say. I’ve arrived to people queuing to get in. However they now only seem to take bookings only. Service here is military and fast to say the least, but they certainly get the job done. If you’re in the area you definitely need to give this place a try.

the duck here is pretty good. but I always feel like we’ve been taken for a ride at these places… can never see how the amount of duck that’s brought out equates to a whole duck! there were five of us and we ordered 4 ducks. which was just right. but if I ordered 4 whole roast ducks at a Chinese BBQ roast place? No way would we be able to finish even 2! anyhooo it’s prob the best Peking duck in town right now. skin is crispy and not too oily compared to Simon’s. Very tasty!

Best peking duck I’ve ever eaten. I dine here maybe 10 times in a year. I personally like this better than Simon’s as the duck is less fatty. Golden soft shell crab is a killer dish as well. Dont forget to bring your favourite bottle of wine.

Why look at the rest of the menu when you can get a three course meal for $ 55 per person with the best crispy duck I have had in a very long time, if not ever? Start with duck pancakes, move on to the awesome soup and then the soft noodles both of which incorporate some of the duck meat that was shredded at your table. Delicious. If you are trying to keep vampires at bay, throw in a side of the garlic broccoli — that will well and truly do the trick. Service is business-like and quick — they churn through those tables pretty quick so don’t worry too much if there is a line out the door. I wish I had noticed it was cash only… would have saved the use of silver coins to scrape together the bill!

Every few weeks, a bunch of my favourite peeps and I go out to Old Kingdom Peking Duck and gorge ourselves stupid on the best duck on this side of the river. If you are vegetarian, avert your eyes now. For just $ 55, you can get a whole peking duck served with crêpe pancakes, cucumber and hoisin sauce to make delicious duck pancakes. The waiters theatrically demonstrate how to make these, but it’s not that hard — it’s like a taco and you throw a piece of crispy duck, with spring onion, cucumber and a dribble of hoisin sauce as well. Delicious. The only challenge is elbowing your mates to try and eat more duck before it all gets devoured. Want more? You also get a serve of duck soup and duck noodles as part of the deal. The duck noodles are the crunchy delicious type with pieces of duck and bean shoots scattered throughout. For seven people, two ducks is more than enough and I recommend a couple of serves of chinese broccoli with garlic to increase the vegetable intake. This place is always packed and pumping, so recommend you make a booking, don’t eat lunch prior and wear stretchy pants to accommodate the duck love.

Excellent Peking duck with paper thin crepes. I love the way they present the duck in 2 follow on complimentary dishes. A noodle dish and soup. All 3 duck presentations were awesome. 5 stars for the duck. Also loved the dry braised beans, beef rendang, salt and pepper crab, and xo scallops. The ma pa tofu had great fresh tofu but needed more chili flavor. The gong chicken was average, Overall a great place.
