If you want a kick in the taste buds, get the jerk chicken here…
WOO you will sweat while loving every second!!!
My only complaint here is it’s definitely on the pricey side for 1 pound of chicken… which isn’t enough to fill up two grown men. If you’re really hungry I’d say get an order and a half of jerk chicken for two people as well as an entrée. I get it though… not many Caribbean joints in Sydney so they can charge a premium.
If you get an entrée, get the Doubles. They’re awesome.
I’ve only been here twice and have only ordered those two things so I can’t comment on the other dishes… I imagine they’re all pretty good though.

Went to Jonkanoo for my birthday with a couple of friends, just happened to be Mardi Gras night too! The place was pretty packed but they managed to seat us quick (and change our table after a request) — we got some cocktails and asked the flamboyant and hilariously witty waiter to bring us a selection of dishes since we didn’t know much about Caribbean food. Boy did he deliver! So many great dishes — and it wasn’t just the highest profit margin items that they brought out, just a good range. It wasn’t cheap when all said and done but we drank a lot of cocktails between the 5 of us! Def worth it and we had a brilliant night. We’ll be back asap…

Food is authentic and delicious. Décor is subtle and stylish. The place was packed so book ahead to guarantee a table.
I’ve lived in New York and eaten at a few Caribbean restaurants and Jonkanoo compares (if not better) as they have access to Aussie produce so it’s clean and not greasy. These guys clearly know what’s up. Spice is moderate. We love spicy food so the whole meal went down very well.
Would definitely go back when we are in Sydney.
