I went here on Emily’s recommendation and am super happy. This place is tucked into a corner of Surry Hills. The place is bright, sunny, and well-decorated. Service is top-notch… they give you a bottle of water when you come in, plus a drink(tea, coffee, alcohol, heh) as well. Shampoo, conditioner, a blowout and a short scalp massage are included. I go to Liana as well and she is amazing. Super friendly and asks you what you want but at the same time also has her recommendations. She really takes her time with you. I’ve gone twice already, paid $ 60 the last time, which is an amazing deal.

During the week this stylish salon has 1st, 2nd and 3rd year apprentices who charge out at the fraction of the cost of the qualified hairdressers. I had my hair done by a 3rd year apprentice and he did an excellent job and it didn’t take longer than usual. The salon itself is beautiful and the room for hair washing adds to the luxury feel. Highly recommend.

This is hands down, the most upscale salon at the best price, in Sydney! Anthony Nader is a big deal, apparently? And caters to the likes of famous celebrities. I’m pretty sure he charges an arm and a leg for a cut, but there are all levels of stylists, from advanced to junior/apprentice. Even the junior stylists are superb! I have a regular hairdresser, Liane, whom I’ve referred nearly all my friends to. I’ve had a fantastic blow out by one of their first-year, Bonnie? No complaints at all. They do this thing with the scalp massage where they spend FOREVER massaging your scalp … seriously. I think it must be a Raw requirement or something. Absolutely heavenly. Blow dries are only $ 20 by an apprentice. Ridiculous, considering the quality of product they use(Oribe), and the quality of service. You get a coffee, bottle of water, sparkling wine, etc, whatever you want! Service is impeccable. First time customers are also rewarded with some sort of gift bag? Mine had a beautiful smelling bottle of Anthony Nader body wash and some other treats. The best marketing tactic(coming from a marketing person) — is they have a refer a friend program. You refer your friend: they get 50% off, you get 50%(a cut). BEST idea ever! I had a string of cheap haircuts one after another … everyone is happy! Visit Raw(say Emily sent you) — you won’t be sorry!

I wanted light brownish hair w some(little warm lowlight in my back hair). The treatment was horrrrrrible! My scalp was burning! Which I even notified her of!!! The hairdresser was pulling and dragging my hair. It hurt soooooo bad! The same w the shampooing– just excruciating! And the results– purple hair!!! It was horrible! Plus she bleached my hair in the process!!! Why would you bleach if your making it that dark??? I never even asked for bleach!!! I didn’t want highlights! I told her that it wasn’t what I said I was looking for and she agreed(after some moaning about it) to draw some more highlights. The second time around– another ton of bleach– my hair is now orange and probably in the worst condition it has ever been in!!! As I’m writing this I am crying! I’ve been saving my hair for years, I don’t ever do anything because I want to save the quality– I don’t even blow dry my hair! Now it looks as if I’ve been bleaching it for years! It’s lifeless, dry and extremely damaged! Not to mention orange! I wish this whole thing was a horrible nightmare and I’d never stepped through the doors of that salon! I wish soooo bad this horrible experience never happened! Anthony Nader might be a good hairdresser but this salon and the crew is horrible. WORSTEXPERIENCEIVEBEENTHROUGHINMYWHOLELIFE!!! How I wish I never let them touch my hair.

So agree. The home of Sydney’s cheapest blow dry, yet one in style. You’re greeted most courteously(regardless of your budget) here, and given a bottle of spring water without asking for it. If you need a magazine to read while waiting(the wait is short anyway) or while you’re hair is undergoing some TLC, then why not read the current issue of trendy magazines such as Vogue and BAZAAR. Also, your own private TV screen with Foxtel channels awaits. Even for a cheap $ 20 blow dry, your hair is also washed at their zen like basins downstairs, even sitting in a bed like chair that massages your body. Definitely a hairdresser of choice and exclusivity. Prices range depending on who you want and what service you want. I highly recommend their apprentice Chloe. Chloe has blow dried my hair twice, and has also coloured my hair while experiencing a $ 20 colour training on the spur of the moment. xxx

Raw hair is the single most glorious hair salon I have ever set follicle in. It’s more like a day spa with it’s gorgeous outdoor balcony areas and simple and tasteful décor. This place is as Zen as hair gets. I come here for a blowdry once in a while and am seriously considering making this exclusively my hairdresser. They offer apprentice blowdries for $ 20(I have long hair and most places charge $ 55 – 60), they give you a bottle of spring water on arrival and offer beer or bubbly– even if you’re a tight-arse who’s there for an apprentice blowdry. To get your hair washed your stylist leads you down the stairs to a divine-smelling, silent, darkened room with scented candles and massage chairs. I’d so much rather relax in a room like this than have Fashion TV on the roof above me forcing me to keep my eyes open when I’m getting a hair wash, it’s so obvious yet noone else has thought of it! The staff are lovely and do a fantastic job. Hairdressing does not get better than this.
