This place is horrible. It looks cute and authentic but both the food and the service are a disaster. It took almost 90 minutes for our food to come and it the food itself was simple and bland and lacked basic flavour. Avoid this place even if they offer you a free meal.

Worst possible experience. 1+ hour to receive poorly prepared food. We were table of 7. Food came out every 15 minutes so most of our table was finished before the last person was served. Food was terrible. Waitstaff could not explain why a bowl of soup took 60 minutes. After an hour we were informed that they had no spaghetti. Terrible experience.

I’ll give it a star for the charming old man(approximately 87 years old) playing some killer live piano… but beyond that this place fell way short for me. Overpriced, bad service and bad food. Even if you’re really hungry, a better option is the convenience store across the road. We shared a couple of the entrees– a seafood platter for two that had oysters, smoked salmon, crab meat, and prawns, a proscuitto and melon dish and some bruschetta. The oysters on the seafood platter were served WARM, like bathwater warm, which was a major turnoff for me. As for the rest of the platter the seafood wasn’t seasoned at all, so it was really just someone throwing something on a plate– for $ 30 it wasn’t worth it at all. The other dishes were similar– seems like these guys are making a massive profit margin by pretending to be cooks and taking advantage of tourists in the area. Steer clear of this place folks, unless you want an empty wallet and an unsatisfying meal!

Why all the fuss? Poor service by uninspiring staff and traditional Italian cooking by Chinese cooks? Please???

The homemade pastas and the piano player were excellent but the service was not. Orginally delivered the wrong salad and claimed it was the Caesar. Not a very good salad when it came. Minestrone, gnocchi and pheasant ravioli were all excellent. Then the ½ hour wait to order dessert and more to get a check. Might go back, but try going early.

The concierge at the Marriott had recommended this place the day before, so on my way back from the ferry, I stopped in at 6:05 to see if I could get a reservation for 6:45(wanted to drop off some things in my room and come back down). I was traveling alone and, thus, dining alone, and I was told there may or may not be a place for me at 6:45, but to come back as soon as possible if I wanted to eat there. Two businessmen were entering as I was leaving — I got a few steps toward the hotel and changed my mind, thinking I could just eat then. As I was going back in, the men were confirming their 6:45 reservation and turning to leave to go get a drink elsewhere before their return. I was shocked. I am female and usually find most restaurants to be very accommodating to solo female business diners. I have never been treated so rudely or felt so unwelcome in a restaurant in my life, and I’ve traveled all over the world by myself.

Hidden away in an alleyway is just as I like to keep this review hidden away from you. Coming here a number of years I’ve tried so hard to come here on every important occasion to share with family and friends over an excellent menu with what I love. Excellent company over superb food. Introduced by a friend and again paid forward to my friends, this place is what an intimate dining experience is without being intimidating. Having an authentic italian feel to the place with only 12 or more tables, walk-ins are always welcomed but I recommend booking. There is a bar when you walk in but never have seen anyone there as you are seated promptly upon entering. I too enjoy my table being step up in front of me as all cutlery is presented as both clean, new and the skill with setting up. The menu is big. I mean size of this thing would be an A2 sheet. The space only filled with options but I always go by recommendation of our waiter for the entrées. Every time something is new. Recently having Figs stuffed with Blue Cheese melted with a side of Prosciutto is what had to mentioned by the reason for writing this review. The mains are the prime example of excellent italian fine dining. Again, when ordered the running«did you know» is the pasta. Always in house made«on the day» so always pushed forth. My return upon picking a main of any pasta, red meat or fish is their imported Italian chianti…“the one with the bamboo around it”. Always delighted to hear«how you know about this bottle?» and«We only bring this out once a year!». Um… yeah! That’s me that always orders this! Always enjoyed. I always recommend the pasta dishes. The sauce is extremely divine with all. A thick«sticks to your pasta» sauce. Naming so many dishes that stood out would make this review a menu for so. Come here a Friday or Saturday night, they have the owner come around to your table and ask for music you wish to be played on the piano. Classics only my choice. These days seem the most popular. The desserts are simple from what the majority of the menu offers but they are exact on taste and taste perfect. I do not understand how such a beautiful place has stayed hidden since 1990s could be Sydney’s best kept dining secret. Italian speaking waiters to explain the menu only adds to it all. You have to come upon this place for any occasion. Mark My Words

Tucked away in one of the oldest buildings in Sydney is this historic, and(for me at least) much loved little restaurant with the big eye-tie(that’s Italian) heart. The atmosphere of this sandstone and exposed beam space is colonial, and being the history nut I am, I love this aspect of the joint. Noisy when its busy, the food here is good. Just good, not blow your socks off amazing, but sometimes thats just what you need. That sounds like I’m coping out a bit, but I swear I’m not. I really do love this place, its just not my absolute fave. The dishes are generous, well presented, and tasty. the carpaccio is gorgeous! and the porchetta is fantastic, however the crackling could be done a little better. The wait staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and were attentive. The only disappointment was the price… its a bit pricey. The pianist playing easy-listening classics was a great touch(and he is a carpenters fan too like me so that was a bonus). We tend to eat here before jumping down to the opera house for a symphony or opera performance, and I often look forward more to eating here than the performance.

What a disappointment! This place was recommended by concierge at our hotel, but i have no idea why. The place is in an alleyway near the harbour which is quaint and the place looked authentic and adorable but that is where the compliments end. I think they gave us the busboy as our server, he seemed to have no waiter skills whatsoever! We had to ask for everything we needed, he had no recommendations or seemingly any interest in describing the food items we had questions about, i had to ask what the special pasta was, he didnt bring what we asked for a number of times, didnt check up on us after food was delivered by others, it was some of the worst service we’ve ever had and the place was not crowded. They have no wine offerings by the glass other than generic house wine. The butter served with the bread had a strange consistency, definitely not real butter, and by the way we asked for olive oil. I had to get up and walk toward front to ask for the olive oil since our waiter was never around. The caesar salad was just ok. The lamb chops were fine, decent. The veal dish was also average. At one point i had finished my glass of wine and would have ordered another but someone just grabbed my empty glass as they walked by and didnt bother to ask me if i wanted another, truly bizarre!
