Awesome dumplings and siu mai. have to knock it down 1 star because it was super crowded. Other than that it’s awesome because of food and location to Sydney Tower Eye.

Although I wouldn’t put this under dim sum or yum cha, the dumplings were truly the best I have had so far. Obviously the price tag matches that and we got some of the more expensive options but my mouth was so damn happy I suppose it doesn’t matter.

Very okay dumplings. Weird thing is ginger is served in Togo plastics instead of being on a small plate for dipping. Food lives up to the chained name.

Perfect for a quick DTF fix when you don’t have much time. Much faster than the DTF restaurants, as you just line up to place your order. There is no lining up to get a table. However, come here for the food not the ambiance. This is food court seating, but it is a fairly upmarket food court with WiFi and other fantastic eateries, such as some great bakery options for dessert. The DTF Dumpling Bar menu choices are reduced some from the full restaurant, but they have all of my favorites and they are just as good. The XLBs are still made with the same care and precision. You see them carefully weighing each dumpling to ensure it has exactly the right number of grams(or fractions of an ounce) of soup filling.

Snog. Xiao long bao are the best, but prices can add up if you get a few dishes. I mostly go to their Westfeld branch for a quick bite but if I’m in the market for a sit down meal, prefer one of the other dumpling specialists. If eating with kiddies though, DTF is the go — they love the gem dumpliings.

Awesome dumplings! Definitely recommend this place. Friend took me for lunch and I’m definitely coming back. Expect a line but it moves quick. Give this place a try.

Din Tai Fung(DTF). The world famous soup dumpling. The only soup dumpling to receive one Michelin star and they’re slowing taking over the world one soup dumpling at a time. I was a bit surprised to find DTF in the Westfield mall as I was stumbling around and trying to regain my footing from my food coma. However, I wasn’t surprised with the line for DTF cause the ones located in Southern California are notorious for their wait time. I stood there with my food coma. I went back and forth about eating again then I noticed the line was moving fairly fast. Therefore, I didn’t let the long line discourage me from making my order and eating an hour after I just had dim sum at Mr. Wong. Go hard or go home. Shiiiiet. Now, the soup dumpling. It was fairly consistent with the ones at other locations. However, the only thing missing was the temperature of the soup. It seem a bit simmer versus piping hot. The number of creases on the wrap, the flavors of the pork, the temperature of the soup and the way it melted in my mouth was all there. It just evaporates in your mouth like a tab of acid. Overall, it’s a must try for anyone who hasn’t eaten at Din Tai Fung. Also, don’t be discourage by the long line. My entire wait time was no more than 15 mins from getting in line to receiving my order. I know you’re used to fast service like your boyfriend’s performance time in bed. However, this is worth it.

Din Tai Fung is in the fancy food court in Westfields. It can get quite busy around lunch time, so finding a free table might be a challenge. The line can appear long but moves pretty quickly, make sure to grab a menu so you can figure out what you want while you wait. I always get the soup filled dumplings which are tasty and unique, and the steamed BBQ pork buns.

Wow, I can’t believe this is in a food court! I had already eaten lunch, but I HAD to come here! I only got the xiao long bao, and they were delicious! There was so much soup inside! The skins were also nice and delicate.

Fantastic! It is very rare for me to visit the same restaurant twice during the same week. May even consider a third visit before heading back home to the USA.

Good dumplings, as usual. A little pricier than your average Chinatown dumplings, but still pretty tasty. It’s quite busy in a food court, but food doesn’t take too long to arrive, and they give you buzzers to pick up the food.

I didn’t realize this institution from Taiwan had opened up shop in Sydney. I saw the sign, did a double take and lined up immediately. OK I opened Unilocal to confirm then lined up immediately. Pick up a pencil and order form, check off the xiao long bao’s and whatever else you fancy. I got an extra order of beef brisket noodles and asked for extra hot sauce. However get the xlb’s or you’re a dummy :) Xlb’s were delicious. If I was hungrier I’m pretty sure I would have ordered 2 more of these things. The noodles were decent but I could have ordered more xlb’s than the noodles. Depending on time of day there is a serious lack of seating. You might have to do a lap or two until you find a seat but keep your eye out when you’re in line for a spot!

The food court was a zoo. That said, they did a very efficient job of taking my order. My group was able to find a table while we were waiting for the buzzer to go off. My pork bun and spicy noodle dish was excellent. Far better than anything I can get where I live, even at a sit down restaurant. You could watch the ladies make the dumplings. Nothing already prepared here.

I wish the Westfield mall in my area had this variety! We were very excited to have some DTF in the mall food court. The dumplings were as expected. Plump pockets of juicy goodness! You grab your own plates, ginger, and vinegar and wait for them to buzz you. Nom!

One of my fave dumpling place, not just a good food, but also reminds me about city that I used to live before, Beijing. Even though this is originally from Taiwan but it also big in dumpling eating nation, China. Food is always consistently good. The only thing that I don’t really like about the food that I ordered today is the Kung pao chicken, it should be spicy, sour and sweet at the same time, as it’s originally from Szechuan province in china. This version from din tai fung, just a little blend and not spicy at all.

I had 2DTF locations bookmarked. This one was a 5-minute walk from my hotel so, I chose to go to this location. It’s at a food court, basically. Community tables and chaos. It was super crowded and the line was long. One customer dropped his green slushy drink on the floor causing more chaos. They give you your receipt with a number so make sure you pay attention. You also get a pager. I had to wait a good 20 minutes to get my food. They don’t have the xiao long bao with truffles that I like so I just got regular XLB and my usual beef noodle soup and soy bean milk. The beef noodle soup isn’t as great as the ones I’ve had in China and Taiwan. The Australian version is quite sad. 3 pieces of beef, noodles and broth — no greens because you have to pay extra for it. What??? I’ll try the other location next time.

Came here with my family because we were all craving Chinese food. Ordered pork dumplings and cha jiang noodle with minced pork. The dumplings here are always superb as I’ve been to a Din Tai Fung back in Taiwan. The dumplings at the establishment in Sydney were less fresh than the ones we had in Taiwan, possibly because it was close to closing time. Either way, I really enjoyed them and was again amused with the ability to watch them create the dumplings with such precision, food scale and all. The cha jiang noodle, a noodle dish with no soup, was tasty as well! Not too salty, the noodles were just enough to fill me up without leaving me in a food coma on my walk back to the hotel. Delicious dumplings, definitely the star of their menu. Recommended.

Maybe it’s because I haven’t been to the LA one for a bit or maybe because I haven’t had many carbs of late, but the XLBs here were the best I’ve had and noticeably better than you find in LA. To me, the skin was thinner and had a nice bite to them, while the soup and meat were more juicy and flavorful than their trans-pacific sister branch. On top of that, the mall where this food court is is the most posh food court I’ve ever seen. Be sure to save some room for some of the desserts around the corner!
