Do not waste your time. The servers were nice but the food was atrocious. I had a red sauce that was exactly like a can of cheap tomato paste. There are many options in Sydney. Cross this off of your list!

More swank than substance. Food was okay. Started with a tomato & mozzarella salad that had very little tomato and a ginormous mozzarella ball in the fashion of a chocolate dome cake. High enough quality, just really my preferred preparation. Had the shrimp linguini as my main. [Warning! Do not order this if you are opposed to your dinner staring back at you. Shrimp heads still intact and prominently displayed.] Pasta itself was cooked just right(not too soft), but the flavors were just average. Finished off with the cannoli. Crisp shell, not overly sweet. Service was quite formal, but not especially friendly. Prices are quite steep for the food you’re getting. This place seems more about presentation, atmosphere, and location than great food and good value. Not that either is right or wrong — you should just know what to expect going in.

Terribly unhelpful service. Turn up at 11:50 am today to be told they aren’t serving coffee and they aren’t serving lunch. No customers in the restaurant. «Can I get a table for lunch?» «You’ll have to wait over there till 12 to find out». «Well can I sit down and have a coffee while I wait?» «No we’re not serving coffee». Customer service is obviously a low priority. What is hard to explain in a review is just how rude the woman was…

Situated on Martin Place just outside No1 Martin Place it’s a great place to have a relaxing lunch or something in the afternoon. You can watch all the people walk past the busy Martin Place and just relax on the outdoors dining area. The food is reasonable, kind of high end service.

We were staying at the Westin, Sydney which is in a great location. And late night after an exhausting flight, not knowing the area, this seemed like a good option. The dining experience is rather formal and the service impeccable in training though, less so in timeliness. The food was pretty heavy on butter so of course it tasted good. Within a few days we had discovered the food court at Westfield just a short walk away and did not find a reason to return to Intermezzo. Its a good place to go if you want to impress a date with how far your money clip will extend but if you are going for food, nothing exciting.

On a lovely autumn day we were looking for somewhere in the sun, and this spot fitted the bill. Bit pricier than the sarnie we had been originally thinking about but oh well, someone had to d it. Sitting on the verandah overlooking Martin Place is a pretty cosmopolitan sort of feeling — watching the world drift by in the sun was very restful, although it quickly got quite hot. The food is Italian fare, with the menu reasonably extensive — the obligatory pastas and risottos, but what took my eye was ocean trout enpapillotte or however that is spelled, in paper anyhow, with cherry tomatoes and wild mushrooms. Regrettably for a restaurant attached to the Westin the service was pretty ordinary — our first two glasses of water had floaters, and we had to ask for cracked pepper and service a couple of times. Otherwise a 4th star may have been forthcoming. She had crispy skin snapper with artichokes and black olives. On the side broccolini with almonds swimming in butter with a hint of chili oil. The meals were nice, if slightly pedestrian, and the service a bit forgettable, but the location is hard to beat. Better than that sambo anyhow ;-)
