Let’s start with the negatives: this place gets busy as hell at lunch time & has a pretty small menu if your bosses and work friends and picky with food. Now! The positives: the food here is delicious, the daily soups are LEGIT. I’m not one to order soups but these guys are making them like your mum makes and then giving you a slab of brickfields sourdough to eat it with. It’s really good stuff! The lamb and salad plates are where I’m at though. They’ve got these big bowls of interesting salads and they serve two of them with some beautiful slow cooked lamb. So good! The coffee here is a solid 8.5 outta ten — perfect with their spicy salami breakfast roll! I don’t have any pictures because I smashed my phone since my last visit, but take a slightly early lunch so that you don’t have to line up, and get into it.

Delicious fresh food! Great coffee. Cool ambiance. Some of the best gluten free bread you can find

I’m not exaggerating when I say this if the best café in the city. A rare gem amongst a number of average, overpriced places that sell slimed salads and stake foccacia. Cross Eatery serves beautiful salads and sandwiches, a soup or two of the day and usually some kind of roast meats. It’s in a big space and the service is very good. Get there early though!

Fresh healthy food.s. From the most amazing salad varieties to awesome fresh sandwiches. Salads like beans and Tahiti sauce and broccoli with mint and chili. My fav sandwich is the pumpkin with feta and chili sauce so fresh so filling so good. Their coffee is also great as well as their teas. The service is great as well quick and responsive.

I found myself a regular customer to this gem in the heart of Sydney. The lunch menu is small — salads, slow cooked meat & soup. It’s really deliciously healthy. I usually order 3 scoops of 3 types of salads or slow cooked meat + 2 salads. It’s balanced, filling, clean & delicious at the same time. Not many places in the Sydney CBD offers type of food. It’s a few dollars more than take-away usual salad bar(packed with sources & lots of sugar), but worthy of the extra dollars!

I had a lunch box here last week and it was delicious. I ordered the stuffed zucchini with the broccolini and eggplant salad. The meal was presented beautifully and was the perfect combination of ingredients. I also ordered the kumbucha on tap which is always a winner

The new Cross Eatery does a good job of reminding us that lunchtime in Sydney’s CBD is quite disenchanting. If you have a work meeting but don’t want corporate, if you want to farewell a colleague but don’t want to be in a pub, if you want a salad but don’t fancy a food court, if you have an afternoon itch for some kombucha but tea won’t suffice, The Cross Eatery will be your ticket to smart-casual-Ottolenghi-cool. Mr. Cross, where have you been all my 9 – 5 life? Most of all I’ll come back for the gorgeous seasonal salads. How does Burnt Brussels sprouts, citrus, witlof and walnut sound? Or… roasted eggplant with lentil, turmeric cabbage and black bean? Vegetables are celebrated here and I like it a lot.

Trendy modern warehouse style décor with communal seating benches. Food was a hit! Very healthy and a good addition to lunch spots in the city.
