The buffet might seem like a good deal but the food is limited and the sauces are generic. The prepared buffet is the best bit. Fried chicken wings. Which says a lot.

Good, great, ready to go again! At $ 22/pp all you can eat, how can it be anything less than good deal. You choose the meat, vege and sauce quantities and combinations each and every time… yes, it’s an «all you can eat» operation, so pace yourself and maximize the enjoyment. Décor, music and ambience aren’t anything to rave about, but given you’re not there for that, it doesn’t really rate too much concern. Imagine Friday and Saturday nights may feel a little crazy, so glad to eat there Wednesday to see how it all works without any crowds, lines or crazy. Great value all things considered.

I love it here. $ 21.60 on weeknights for an all you can eat buffet that you don’t leave feeling gross after. The food is actually pretty healthy(particularly if you avoid the oils when creating your sauce) as it mostly fresh veg and lean meats. Plus I love the novelty of getting to design my own dishes. This is a fantastic place for groups. The drinks are cheap and the dining area is spacious. You can walk in although on Friday/Saturday nights if your eating around busy times you may want to book!

You can’t really go back here more than twice a month I reckon. The inside of the restaurant is a bit daggy looking(lights…invest in more lights, wouldn’t help to literally brighten up this place) and there is an entrée bar Fri-Sun which is included in the eat all you can BBQ. The basic premise is you grab a bowl outside, select your frozen meats, vegies and sauces and at the end of the line there is a massive upside down looking wok that a guy uses gigantore chopstix to fry your bowl with. You get it hot, steamy and when you go back for round 2, you can perfect the sauce ratio so it doesn’t taste soley of chilli sauce and garlic. I don’t mind this place because your meal is literally only as good as the ingredients you select to put in it, so if it tastes bad, you really only have yourself to blame. They even recommend certain servings of sauces to get the perfect fry. I don’t mind it, it’s quiet inside and they are always pretty friendly. Tip for the hungry: Squash the rolls of frozen meat down to make more room in the bowl for other yummy stuff. It’s pretty healthy here, and I don’t mind it.

This place is great! I come here so often I can practically tell what the next song will be from the music playing overhead. It’s all you can eat, and very tasty. You select your meat, add your veggies then add your sauces. Simplicity itself! I tend to go overboard on the sauces because, in my opinion, they’ve been watered down even more so than when I first started going there. They cook it one way and in front of you so there’s no point in complaining since it was YOU who prepared it. I do wish they had Coke instead of Pepsi, but that’s a minor quibble on my part. A bigger selection of beer and wine would also be nice. The interior is nice and pleasant and the neighbourhood is safe. The staff is friendly and attentive. But let’s face it its the food I go there for not the ambiance. And that said, the food is good, good prices, definitely a winner.

When you pay $ 22 per person for an all you can eat plus rice dinner you know it will never be a five-star experience! And that’s not to say that dinner at Sizzling Mongolian isn’t good, it is, but just don’t expect mind-blowing greatness — that’s all. You walk into a restaurant that’s decorated to remind you that you might just be dining in a Mongolian tent in the middle of the desert(if you weren’t surrounded by views of the Brisbane city in the distance), and once you’re seated you walk casually to the balcony where you follow this routine. I warn you, while it isn’t as strict as ordering soup from the Soup Nazi, there is a process that keeps this restaurant moving in an orderly manner. 1. Pick your bowl up from table 1 2. Select your meat from the freezer cabinet. There’s lamb, beef, pork and chicken. All sliced thinly, frozen and ready to make friends with the vegetables you’re about to introduce them to. 3. And there’s step 3. Shuffle two steps to your right and fill your bowl up with freshly cut cabbage, bean sprouts, carrot, capsicum, pineapple, tomato, bok choy and shallots. 4. Shuffle another two steps to your right to the sauce table. Chilli, soy sauce, lemon, garlic, coriander and about a handful more sauces to select to add«flavour» your dish. 5. Take a turn behind you and leave your bowl on the counter for the Iron Chef to cook your meal on the massive outdoor BBQ(not your standard backyard barbie, okay). Wait about a nano second before going back to your table to devour your meal. Repeat this as many times as your stomach will allow. I managed two. How many bowls can you do?

I recommend trying Sizzling Mongolian BBQ Restaurant as it is a novelty, but I wouldn’t make a return trip. Whilst I love a good greasy Asian buffet, the starters are just that – spring rolls and prawn crackers. The main meal is a lot of fun, but the low-grade frozen meat that goes into it is actually quite fatty too. There are, however, plenty of nice veggies to break up the grease, so it’s up to you how you construct your meal. I don’t think my Sizzling Mongolian stir-fry was the best thing I’ve ever tasted, but the experience was worth it for a one-off.

Novel way of presenting and cooking food. Takeaway container cost $ 12. Essentially a stir fry with frozen meats. Taste to choice as you decide the flavours. Worth a try.

I went here for a work Christmas party once, from the outside it doesn’t look like much, but inside it was a buzz. Especially at a line up that I couldn’t figure out what for. After finding out seats, it was time to order, so instead of a waiter coming to our table we made our way to the said line and waited until served. To my surprise this wasn’t some line up that you’d see in some pub bar, it was a line up to make you’re food. We got to pick the type of noodles, meat sauce and vegetable that went into our dish and as we handed it over to the chef he put it all together in a large wok right before my eyes. The action of the dinner process got even the most full of us to go back for more, not only because it was delicious to eat, the chefs themselves were wildly entertaining and fun to be around. Good Times.

Gosh I love this place. It reminds me of going grocery shopping; as you wander around, select your ingredients and then have somebody else cook it for you. Brilliant. It’s best to visit on an empty stomach, as the concept of all you can eat when the food is so delicious is best not wasted on those with little appetites. Opting to whet my appetite with a buffet-style entrée of spring rolls and prawn crackers, I joined the queue of guests lining up to have their food cooked. Grabbing a small bowl, I filled it sky-high with dried meats(lamb, beef, chicken and pork) and a vast array of vegetables(spring onions, capsicum, tomatoes, pineapple, mushrooms, pak choy; the list is endless). Moving along, there’s a sign advising you of the most appropriate amount of oil and sauces to top your dish according to the optimal amount of spice you want. Having done this, you hand your bowl over to the chefs, they toss it onto a massive BBQ hot plate, swirl it around and skilfully scoop it up and return it to you in a mere matter of minutes. Add rice, take a seat in the enormous restaurant and chow down. I can guarantee it’ll have you lining up for more.

This restaurant adds a novel twist to the idea of ‘freshly cooked.’ Around $ 25 for all you can eat, every ingredient for a meal is selected by the diner. You choose your meat, sauce and veggies from a buffet-style serving area and then take it to the chefs who cook it right before your eyes as you wait. It doesn’t take long to cook on the sizzling hot plates so don’t be concerned you’ll be left waiting for hours. It’s a short process and the food tastes great. I love being able to choose my own vegetables as I usually leave half of them on my plate when I go out for Asian food. It’s great for kids as they will love being able to pick out their own food and then watch it being cooked. There’s ample parking available and it’s well equipped for large groups and families with a very relaxed atmosphere.
