Today was my first experience of entropy, it was good but not awesomely great. The place was a bit cold for starters, the coffee was delicious and it’s was probably so delicious because it was cirelli. I ordered the Mr. Bean which was described as beans in a spicy tomato sauce with a poached egg and jalapeño cheese, unfortunately upon receiving this it lacked flavour and the jalapeño cheese sauce had zero flavour and was just odd and seemed very processed. My partner ordered the morning after a big night burger which had a huge potato rosti in it and all the delicious caramelised onions we couldn’t fault this one and would definitely be the perfect hang over cure. On our way out we got take away of hot chocolate and an Aztec hot chocolate the Aztec hot chocolate was like a delicious chai with some more depth, the hot chocolate was sweet and everything my partner was looking for. All in all we liked entropy and would definitely return there was just a few things lacking. Can’t wait to return. Would love to check out one of there theme nights. Excellent space and super good for families not enough large places especially that serve brunch in Adelaide usually your fighting for a seat. Respect to entropy.

I love this place for many reasons but most importantly: 1. They serve Cirelli Coffee in big mugs. Amazing locally roasted coffee, this is my most favourite coffee and I’m so glad there’s a cool little place for West siders to sit and relax and sip on some of this goodness. 2. The breakfast here is amazing. Ps. Be an extras queen. It’s the secret to building breakfasts of champions. 3. They serve 100% South Aussie produce and are big supporters of local. You’re assured that your morning after hangover cure is doing some local businesses good. 4. It’s a super hip converted railway shed. Lots of room and a nice peaceful outdoor area. 5. Service with a smile. And on our last occasion, a complimentary piece of Brownie cake which was delish. There’s an upside to waking up late and tarting your day at 2pm. Five stars. They also do themed Friday night dinners. Highly recommend!

Situated in the Adelaide Uni research facility opposite the Adelaide entertainment centre(across river) this funky spacious place had it all: — Great atmosphere with indoor and outdoor areas(minus the busy traffic as its situated in between a river and grassed open area). The décor is retro cool warehouse. The place is huge and would suit a function. Great coffee but they also have the coolest range of beers, ciders and a few wines. Great cakes too by Abbotts & Kinney. They serve breakfast and also lunch from 1130 am(not open mon and tied). The menu range is great and the food didn’t disappoint. The ocean trout was over cooked but still amazing and the pulled pork bun was great. We were the only ones there so we had amazing service.

For the price I was actually quite disappointed. I paid $ 6 for half a glass of juice and $ 10 for what seemed like a deep fried toasted sandwich. The place itself was nice and the staff were friendly but I definitely wouldn’t go back.

I came here based on Unilocal reviews and because it’s my local that I had not visited. Embarrassed!!! How did I miss this. I brought my very unexcited family who thought coffee at the beach on a sunny was a far better choice, not an unknown Café by the Torrens. Parking down a side street didn’t help but the closer we got the more their curiosity peaked. Entropy is in a semi industrial part of Thebarton, right by the river, in a large tin building, with no dedicated car park. Upon entry you are welcomed into a very large open space with plentiful inside seating and views towards the Torrens, with obvious balcony stool seating to the front which faces the river, and more seating near a lawn area outside to the right. It can cater for large groups, is super kid friendly, and despite its size feels warm. It would also be great for work or study sessions. We sat outside and the kids disappeared almost immediately, ripe with curiosity to explore the chimney and building structures across the lawn patch, all within screaming distance of our table. The Torrens is screened with a fence but the bike path that runs along it is open to all. They cater for large groups and functions and the space certainly lends itself to this. When our drinks arrived my wife mentioned to our waiter that the owner must be very nice because the staff were happy, friendly, at ease, to which he replied he was the owner and was most appreciative of our comments. After a few minutes we felt we almost knew him and liked the place even more. He clearly understands his business and I think he’s doing all the right things. My goats cheese/roasted vegetables/rocket omelette was divine and that alone worthy of another visit. The coffee couldn’t be faulted. The menu was fresh and inviting with lunchtime choices available from 11.30 with an array of options including a trio of sliders, probably on my next visit. They are open regular hours but with the addition of Friday nights for dinner — the menu changes for each Friday night and bookings are essential. They cook/use local and their coffee roaster is at Welland. Go soon.

First time here on fathers day with no reservation but luckily had a free spot at the back for us. This place is widely spreaded with big family tables to share. They could add a few more smaller tables to allow more sittings though. Our food took a while to come but was served beautifully!

I love when you fall in love with a café and you meet the owners and staff who work there and they’re just so nice you want to take out a second mortgage and just throw money at them for putting together such an awesome place and such great food. Entropy is HUGE and in an area that used to host a uni that now caters to residential housing. They have theme nights Ive heard are pretty bananas and a large locally sourced menu. Coffee came out bowl portioned and was great and the sugar was coconut raw sugar? Weird but good! Food was awesome and vibe was killer, another great café in a weird location but worth the winding path! Props to Unilocal for letting us find it after hearing so much positive chatter on here!

Pretty sure that Char/Bar on Friday nights should be shouted from the rooftops. I brought 17 people with me and we all rolled out full, tipsy and happy as hell. Well done Jude and Laura and all staff, I look forward to coming back for Breakfast!

Last night my partner and I came here as part of a function with went to Entropy in Thebarton with Caitlin Hillson’s «Good Food Society». Physically, it’s a bit lacking in atmosphere — it really feels a bit like they’ve thrown some bench tables in a carport and painted the walls white. It was plain and a little cold. But as for the food? Oh. My.God. I’m not exactly sure how Laura and Jude structure the menus on different nights — we had the Char Bar experience. Basically stuff you can do on a barbecue I guess? There’s not much point going into detail about the dishes because I suspect they change quite a bit depending on what is available and fresh. I started off with garfish on fennel and apple while my partner had corn on the cob. I then followed up with pork shoulder on beetroot with a chiminchurri sauce and it was awesome. Other diners had Korean short ribs and lamb ribs; all of which were greeted with Ooohs and Aaahs. And although it wasn’t on the menu last night, they even do an alpaca burger. The smallish wine and beer list offerings were all really good quality, though I would have liked a little more variety in the beer styles; I think there were 4 beers and they were all varieties of ales. The negatives above weren’t enough to detract from the food and the enthusiasm and genuine interest in kick arse cuisine by the proprietors. Oh, the kicker? Everything is South Australian.

Ever since one of my favourite places to brunch had closed down, I’ve been on the hunt for the next best thing. Thank goodness for Unilocal, otherwise I may not have come across this absolute beauty! Tucked away in Little Queen Street, I was so excited to try this new place! Even of a freezing cold Saturday morning in Adelaide, this spacious, quirky, hip, rustic shed was filled with people munching away on glorious breakfasts and sipping giant cups of aromatic coffee. I couldn’t believe when I read a review where someone thought the interior and atmosphere of this place was boring?! I haven’t felt such good vibes from a place that was so damn busy! And boring interior? With rustic features, high-top wooden tables with fresh plants, an amazing antique mirrored coffee bar and simply beautiful views of the river outside coming from the giant windows, I hardly agree with that statement! They even have a tree that has their business cards hanging from the branches — Love it! Not to mention how new this place is, I’m sure they’ll always add to it in a few months, but they’ve done a damn good job so far! As soon my friend and I walked in, I felt warm, friendly, positive vibes! We were happily greeted instantly and taken to a free table(yay!). They have two menus: one for breakfast and one for lunch/dinner. The breakfast one was filled with so many diverse and interesting options, it was almost impossible to choose! I landed on the BIG breakfast with bacon, crusty bread, smashed avo, sautéed spinach and poached egg. For a drink, I had freshly squeezed OJ and get this. it was in a beaker! Such a cute touch! Although the wait was a little over 20 minutes(which was understandable due to the lack of staff and amount of customers), it was well worth it! The owner/waitress was so lovely and apologised to us for the wait. We got chatting and soon realised they are a very new place, so I can totally understand the waiting situation. In a few months, I can definitely see this place beaming with people every single day. I can’t wait to go back on a Friday night for their Char/Bar meats and veggies! I’ll be back.

First time at Entropy. Was excited to try something new. First: door locked(on accident). Had to phone to get inside. Second: atmosphere and interiors were a bit boring. Thirdly: ordered the breakfast — was not very tasteful. Bland. My wife had smashed avo with heirloom tomatoes. So the meal arrived with one tomato — the smallest I had ever seen. Meal: breakfast, smashed avo, coffee x4, slice of lime cake. Cost $ 52 Overall: not the most memorable experience.

Tucked away. I mean really tucked away but a huge funky venue! Experienced my first alpaca burger on Friday night — Char/Bar. Cooked to perfection. Only downside, small size servings. would definitely recommend sharing a few dishes or grabbing a side of corn on the cob! Can’t wait to see what brunch offers!

Entropy is defined as a measure of thermodynamic disorder. Science! Entropy the café is a groovy industrial chic breakky, lunch & Friday night restaurant. Hidden in a complex of old and quite beautiful warehouses by the Torrens in Thebarton, the area reminds me of the Redfern Technology Park in Sydney, with anchor small biz tenants and destination eateries inside old rail sheds. Useful signage guides you from West Theb St, down Little Queen St to a handy, shady, and free car parking lot. It is then a short 100m walk past other re-purposed warehouses to the welcoming Entropy entrance. Two of the four owners are on hand, friendly and chatty. The space is filled with natural light and background tunes at the perfect volume. Big tables are good for large groups or to bring your laptop. In the mid afternoon, after lunch lull, I opt to share a pot of tea. Entropy use quality, Barossan, Scullery Made teas and serve them in quirky vintage china with little beakers used for milk. The menu spans tempting breakky options and lunch time open sambos & wraps. In the afternoon the focus shifts to coffee and goodies in the cabinet, including a spectacular looking white choc & citrus lamington that I will need to return to try. Of a Friday evening, the café is transformed into a gourmet outdoor BBQ with DJ tunes and Espresso Martini’s, known as Char/Bar, which gaining a loyal following and includes fish & veggie options. This could be a great option before a Friday night show at the Thebarton Theatre.

Came again for the Char/Bar on a Friday night — wow! The pork rib was cooked perfectly and served with a potato and apple salad. The lamb was tender and moist on a bed of asparagus and perfectly stretchy haloumi. The spicy wings bought a tear to my eye but were gently tempered by a creamy yoghurt raita. The standout was the white chocolate lamington — the tangy lemon filling offsets the white chocolate and coconut outer. Seriously, the sponge is like eating a cloud! Loved it!

Great little find that will be a favorite with Unilocalers of Radalaide. I heard about this place on Facebook via a friend so when I heard it was opening I wanted to get straight down and check it out for myself. I’ll start by saying that this place is BRAND new. The layout is spacious, simple yet lots of thought has gone into it. The concrete bar looks amazing. I was told they have use of the awesome lawn area out front which the kids will love. I had two coffees, the first was Cirelli beans and the second was coffee supreme(the only place in Adelaide currently using them). Both of a very high quality, I was even offered sparkling water. I also ordered the fruit loaf which is locally made, it came with beautiful ricotta cheese and a special Kangaroo Island honey. I pretty much make a point of trying the fruit loaf from each café I go to and I have to say this was the best yet. They do a fresh juice of the day, I tried to watermelon/mint combo and it was pretty tasty. It came out in a really cool glass(see photo) Overall I think it’s a great spot(a little hard to find) but I was told signs are going up! Luckily it’s on my way to work so I’ll be in very often for a takeaway! (I’ll be updated once I try more things on the menu)
