This place is ok, a well priced lunch menu sucked me away from the food court at Toowong Plaza. paid ½ of what I normally pay for the same Chirashi Set and the staff accommodated our changes without a blink.

A sushi craving caused me to Unilocal ‘Sushi near Toowong,’ and to my surprise I found this gem just a stroll away from my house! It’s hidden around the corner from The Coffee Club and you would never notice it unless you were looking for it! It’s fairly small inside, with seating around the sushi train as well as a few larger booth seating areas. When we arrived(around 6pm) we were one of only two groups dining, and the selection on the train itself was pretty minimal. We ordered a few dishes and they were basic, but yummy. Once a few more groups came in to dine they started pumping out the dishes onto the train. Again, simple but yummy! Not the fanciest or best sushi I have ever eaten, but it definitely hit the spot. We spent about $ 20 between the two of us for quite a few dishes, plus green tea. I will definitely be back!

I love this place! It’s got plenty of free parking if you go next door to the Woolworths area(2hrs free), it’s never TOO busy inside the actual store, neither is it ever TOO loud. The food is ridiculously cheap, and the meals on offer are much better than your standard Japanese sushi train. The food is usually fairly freshly made too, and hasn’t been rotating for hours because there’s always a slow but steady stream of people walking through at all hours of the day. Meal sizes here if you’re not just picking things off the train that floats by, are fairly large, and $ 15 spent here should fill you up! Free green tea on arrival as well is a nice touch. The only thing I don’t like about this place, is that they play normal radio. It’s a small thing I know, but I’d much prefer some actual Japanese music, whether that be something traditional on loop, or Japanese pop-music, I don’t care, but it just puts off my vibe, where everything else is on point.

My favourite sushi place in Brisbane, wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, cheap and great service, it’s not flashy, but they sure know how to cook! My husband and I used to live really close but we have moved to the south side, and we still drive across the city to eat here. They have free green Tea and the wait for a table isn’t too long, I’m not sure If management had changed but they used to do the second Tuesday and Wednesday of each month was every plate for $ 2!(they didn’t serve the super fancy stuff on those nights but it was a great night out to eat till you pop!)

I went to Tokyo express because we decided that we needed to stop eating at amazing places, and go somewhere average so we didn’t over-eat. We chose this sushi place because of it’s predecessor — Sushi Station. We were sorely disappointed. By which I mean, Tokyo Express has taken the place of one of the most lacklustre sushi venues south of the city and turned it into an amazing, unique and exciting sushi restaurant that stands out compared to all of it’s competitors. The staff do the usual adorably loud greeting when you enter, and offer seating at a booth or at the train. We always opt for the train as it has consistently been magnificently stocked with some of the most exciting and inventive plates I’ve encountered in my quest for the perfect sushi. They offer water or green tea upon seating and at each table/section of the train they have pots of soy, fresh(mild) Wasabi and pickled ginger. Tokyo Express have all manner of weird and wonderful plates ranging from the classic seared fresh salmon to almond crumbed king prawns, octopus balls, caviare and scallop tarts, fresh Japanese and western deserts and pretty much any type of fun and funky sushi dish you could imagine. I couldn’t recommend Tokyo Express more. They have been quiet each time we have dined there and I really hope to rectify this! 5⁄5 will continue to go back. A quick hint — if you’re choosing something that looks like it should be hot, ask them to heat it. Until they get as busy as they need to be, some things won’t be piping hot(IE Karage, salt/pepper squid, gyoza) and they’re more than happy to re-heat.
