After a sweaty game of soccer at Charles Riley Reserve the only thing to do at lunch is replenish with a big fish and chips feed. Lucky for us Fork n’ Fish is a 1-minute walk away. We ordered the kids’ fish and chips and adults’ fish and chips — both featuring hake. We also ordered 10 squid rings. The chips were mountainous, enough for a whole soccer team, while the adult piece of fish was a long slab. It was a huge lunch, very tasty and crispy, although it could have been drained over the fryer a minute longer. The squid rings were good too. For convenience and great value we’ll definitely return.
Just A.

After a quick dip at Mettham’s Pool, I paid attention to the little sign declaring ‘Fish and Chips’ and headed in the direction of the arrow to the end of Lynn Street, intersecting with Charles Riley Road in Trigg. I climbed the short stairs to the terrace, adorned with tables, chairs and brollies, and entered the rather spacious fish and chip shop, to the aroma of deep frying fat. Ahhh yes, this was just what I needed. The very personable chap behind the counter quickly commenced preparing our order(one fried, one grilled fish and one serve of chips with two Bundaberg ginger beers). It was presented to us at our terrace seating in the quaint little baskets lined with paper. That’s when things started to go downhill. Although a most decent size of fish for each of us, and a generous serving of chips, both meals were very, very dry. The chap did admit that all their fish is frozen fillets. The spice on the grilled fish was almost crusty(in a bad way) and the fillets almost snapped apart they were so dry. Same for the chips. Sure, we could have put some sauce on(and we did) but it didn’t improve things much. I’d give it only 1 for the food itself, but it gets another for the decent chap and his honesty, the nice terrace and quiet location. Plenty of free parking, and it’s opposite a reserve.

Well of course there has to be a fish and chips in Trigg, each beachy suburb has its fair share. The meals aren’t exactly gourmet but they are tasty and good value with healthy servings of fish. Its a little bit out of the way for me but if I was spending the day on the beach in Trigg and hunger strikes, I would gladly jump by Fork N’fish for some barra and chips on the way home.

This fish and chips store is so great I want more people to know about it! I stumbled upon it bewildered and painfully thirsty and hungover. I knew a slushy was the only cure-but where? I saw Fork and Fish and was doubtful that they would have what I needed. The owner was sitting out the front having a cigarette as I practically crawled up the front steps like a gollum and pleaded«do you know where I can find a slushy?» «Inside» he said, I took two delicious frozen sugary cups of heaven and left. Since then I have been back a few times for that morning cure and to actually try their fish and chips which are tasty and reasonably priced. I tried the cobler-heh I really like that word and they do it really well. They also have a freezer with gourmet icecreams shaped as peaches etc. yum!
