Came across this little gem when the café across the road was closed! Walked in the door and was immediately greeted by friendly staff. Asked to wait a couple of minutes as all tables were taken. A minute later table was organised and we were given menus. Had the toastie with ham — yum! Coffee also very good. In summary if I was closer I would make this a daily visit — excellent service, food and coffee!

We went to Pickle in the middle for brunch on a cloudy Saturday morning. The place was fairly busy but we managed to snag a table for four right at the back of the store near the kitchen. The place was cozy but nothing out of this world. The food again was good but nothing really blew me out of the water. We had the buckwheat pancakes and cheese ham & pickle toastie. The pancakes had a few different flavours that maybe didn’t go well together in that sort of arrangement. The toastie was pretty good. We both love pickles though! Really great coffee. We also had a lavender mimosa and pickle Mary. Both were nice but fairly average. All in all it was a good place for a decent breakfast.

This was a lovely place to have an afternoon pick me up! Sadly, we got there a 2:55 and lunch food prep finished at 3pm — which meant that there was no lunch for me on this day. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a follow on for our waiter to sell anything in their cakes range, other than a guided hand that its there. If he had suggested some of the things I could’ve alternatively had, I might have purchased something more(and I was feeling a little hangry at the time! Sorry!). A clean set up with a large food serving and prep area, the layout is easy to sit amongst. A dirty chai in this café was made using chai tea, and it was perfect. There is clear knowledge of how good coffee is made in this place, and the team I was with really enjoyed their teas. A fun spot to pop in and catch up with people, before popping around the neigbourhood and wanting to spend all the rest of your money on the wares that Unley Road has to offer! I’ll surely be back — that pickle toasty will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine!

First time visit to Pickle in the Middle. The food was great but the service was not nice. This is a busy place but when the floor staff make you feel rushed from the very start it puts you off visiting again. Our waitress was rushing us the whole time to order, interrupted conversations several times to hurry us along, took my coffee before it was finished and when the bill came out there were a couple of extra coffees on there that we hadn’t ordered. Sorry PITM there are many other brekkie places in Adelaide with the same style but without the attitude.

The food and service was satisfactory and the two tries to get my coffee right went a miss. I really wanted to like this place but the horrible service has made me not want to return

Great spot, nice and bright without smacking you in your(potentially hung-over) face with its vibrancy. Lots of healthy/hipster options on the menu, simple but with a few interesting twists. Hope to be back next time I’m in town.

One of the best lunches I’ve had out in a while. The jalapeño toastie was nothing short of delicious I just wanted more it was yum yum yum! With a nice kick of spice also without being burn your face off hot. Having everything on the menu hand crafted is paying dividends! Pickle in the middle is a beautifully decorated, well sized store capable of hosting small to larger groups. Meals came out fast, exactly what you want in a lunch break. Table service was also a nice touch and added to the overall great experience. Highly recommend and can’t wait to be back.

I like this place and the food is pretty good. There is a little bit of a price point gap on their menu and to have anything healthy you do have to spend $ 12 +. I would like to see some smaller items on the menu that aren’t ‘carb’ loaded. Don’t get me wrong: I love carbs, but sometime at breaky you just want something small and healthy. The coffee is pretty good and you can get a loyalty card where the tenth one is free. I love the space and they have a seriously excellent magazine collection. The poached eggs on our table(think 4 ppl had them) were all hard inside(noooooo) but everything had nice flavour. Lots of delicious looking cakes etc on offer and I like the fact that there are a couple of vegan options. The salad looks good, the sides are all tasty.

Great food options for vegos /vegans /carnivores alike. Did not like the fact there was no free customer wifi(or password provided) nor the ability to add the almond milk(on the menu) to my coffee(only soy or regular). Having said that, the quinoa and brown rice bowl was delish, especially with the soy /sesame sauce drizzled over the top.

Oh holy pickle, this café is really exciting! Pickle in the Middle began their journey as a pop up stall in the Adelaide Central Markets. The stall showcased awesome cheesy pickle toasties and an arrangement of pickled local produce. After being an absolute hit with the locals, they have opened this lovely establishment. This café really shows that if you work hard enough, you can achieve your goals. What an impressive job they have done! The layout of the café is open, fresh and inviting. A big long bar kitchen area is the main feature piece, surrounded by modern styled café tables and chairs. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by a lovely waitress who seated me and guided me through the menu. But, I knew what I wanted before I arrived. Pickle cheese toastie, oh yeah! How could I not? Every review of Pickle in the Middle claims that they make the best toasties in Adelaide. However, after revising the menu I was also tempted to try the Beet Cured Salmon. Maybe next time. Bring on the cheese toastie! So, after a giggle with my waitress I ordered the ever beckoning toastie and a refreshing glass of lemon myrtle iced tea. I did not have to wait long for my meal and I could not wipe the smile from my face. In my opinion, to make the perfect cheese toastie you need three things. 1: To choose your bread carefully(thick slices is preferable). 2: Good quality sharp cheese. 3: Must be cooked on a flat grill plate or saucepan(none of this toastie machine stuff). And boy did they deliver. My toastie was cooked to perfection, a lovely golden brown on the outside and thick gooey cheese on the inside. The zucchini pickle accompaniment was simply divine; pickled with mustard seeds, onion, and the right amount of sweetness and acidity. The toastie to my surprise as also served with a yummy pickled small cucumber and a small portion of a salad. The lemon myrtle iced tea was so refreshing and really worked well with the cheese toastie. So, the verdict: Yes, this was one of the best toasties I have eaten in Adelaide. Well done guys! I think this café may be the talk of the town very soon! I love this café for offering such a simple menu and showing that simple food can be so special.

You haven’t had a real toastie until you’ve had a cheese n pickle toastie from this delightful spot on unley road! The house made pickled zucchini hit the spot making this one of the best toasties I’ve had yet alongside the perfect accompaniment; home made almond milk iced latte! This is a super cute and busy spot — highly recommend to those wanting fresh & home made treats specializing in all things pickled!

Pickle in the middle is simplicity at its best. I must admit although I love the vibe, the décor and friendly staff, I was apprehensive about the menu at first as it seemed a little underwhelming. But once we ordered we were really pleased with the delicious food. One of the best grilled cheese sandwiches and ham cheese croissants I’ve ever had.
