This is like a home away from home. Walk the Talk is worth stopping to enjoy next time you are in the Adelaide Hills. I think that a lot of people drive past on their way to wineries, but they should really stop for a coffee. It is just the cutest cottage. A few different rooms and you will find the café part in the middle room. What I really love about this place is all the little hidden room dining areas. There are range of take away options for lunch or dinner for the family. Some super tasty looking stews, pasta and salads. Wow! All decently priced and a great healthy alternative then going out for takeaway. I look forward to return to eat some lunch. On this visit my guest and I tried the Lemon Polenta and the Pecan cake. Both were very moist, full of flavour, and not too sweet. Which is perfect by my books. The coffee is a strong and robust. Lovely blend and great barista. You couldn’t have asked for anything better on a cold rainy day! I think I might become a regular as a resident of the Hills! I am looking forward to warming up near their open fireplace.

I’m glad this place exists. When it first opened I thought, «that used to be a servo. No one will ever make a go of it there, such a difficult location». As is often the case, I’m glad I was wrong. Little did I know a quirky little café is the perfect replacement for a redundant service station! So far I’ve only had coffee, but based on the experience of our group the overall customer experience is great! Our coffees(and one iced chocolate) came out really promptly and were top notch(and very affordable somehow). We opted to sit out the back, a great choice for a bright, warm hills Autumn morning. It feels like being out the back of my Nanna’s house(retro table and all) only no one is yelling at me through the back window about the football scores. which is good I guess, for a café anyway.

Finally popped in to this little gem to get coffee & a quick bite on our way out last weekend. Been meaning to for ages but it’s never happened to now & I’m so glad it has! To start with the staff are lovely, welcoming and friendly. The whole place has a lovely homey, down to earth, relaxed feel about it & I can’t wait to come back and eat in for dinner when they open up the back during summer. Next offer coffees. They were clearly made with care & not in a quickly quickly production line style. They were quite simply amazing. That could be due to the fact that I’d waited a while for coffee that morning, or because the last coffee I’d had was a free one from On The Run, but then again my fiancé thought it was amazing too! the only food we ordered was a bacon & egg brioche roll & a choc goji bliss ball. The roll was soft and sweet, the egg runny and velvety & the bacon Smokey & cooked just right. The bliss ball was the best I’ve ever had! Not sure of the ingredients or sugar content, but it tasted like chocolate, fudgy awesomeness! Yup, I’m a new fan of this place & so stoked that its local :)

Had every intention of trying everything on the menu for lunch. I liked the feel of the place from when I walked in. Ordered a chicken laksa(L) and my companion ordered a smoked salmon baguette. What do you you expect ordering a laksa in semi rural Verdun? I’m happy to say whilst it was not a bowl of chilli infused lava, I can say that what it lacked in heat it more than made up for in a rich, delicious, aromatic soup, fresh chicken, fresh sprouts, good prawns, and all the things that make a good laksa. My companions’ baguette was very generous with ample evidence of smoked salmon and a light salad and a very pleasant creamy dressing. The bread is important in a baguette and this was crusty, not hard, and inside was light and delicious. We looked at the fine selection of cakes and had we had room I had decided on a very fine looking Irish apple cake but that will have to wait until the next time when I will address the menu with more vigour. I experienced slight surprise at the bill and had to ask if I owed more than charged but no. Baguette and laksa? Very reasonable. I will be back and soon. I.
