I ordered from here and not only was the delivery a half hour late, the veggie ravioli was a strange consistency so I got worried and called the restaurant to ask what were the contents as it was clearly not cheese and I thought it might be meat. The manager on the phone laughed and said«I don’t know, its just that grey stuff that’s in ravioli at the supermarket! Is this a gluten thing?» And I was becoming more concerned asked him how could I figure out what was in the ravioli, he told me it was supplied by Maria’s and then literally laughed and said, «you’re not going to call them are you??» To which I responded. «Yes. I’m going to try to figure out what I’m eating and am very surprised that you don’t already know or have any way of finding out what is in the food you’re serving.» As someone who has worked in hospitality for YEARS, I was shocked by how little knowledge this manager had of the food and of how rude he was. Needless to say, it was a Friday night and Maria’s was no longer open. I was home with a friend and told her what just happened to which she said are you kidding me? Call right back, tell them you want a refund and tell them to figure out what the hell is in the food they just sent you! When we called back, this«manager» I’m not kidding said, «you don’t have anything better to do on a Friday night?» And hung up the phone. ultimately, menu log handled getting a refund on my behalf. Thankfully. But I’ve never dealt with someone so rude and completely useless who has no idea what he’s serving at his place of employment and clearly takes no pride whatsoever in his work. I will NEVER order from here again, obviously, and honestly with how bland the food was and the fact that half my salad greens were wilted anyway on top of the practically inedible«grey» ravioli, I don’t suggest anyone else eats here either.

I like Mojo’s because they’re not afraid to have fun with their pizza toppings. I’m a traditional girl at heart but sometimes I really like to mex it up(oh yeah, I mean mex — the gringo is my absolute fave). Not sure if ever dine in though as it’s a bit bric’a’brac, run down & un inviting inside. Outside is a whole other story though with communal tables & stools. Right, pizzas ready so wrapping up this review ;)

Good pizza, it’s all about quality toppings and love in these. They are a bit on the pricey side, but also very generous with the toppings. My personal favourites are the Royale with Cheese(cheeseburger) and the Woodsman(Meatlovers). I’m a big eater and a family size will serve me a couple of dinners and a slice or two for breakfast.

With various locations throughout Melbourne, Mojo’s Weird Pizza offers interesting takes on pizzas. On the menu are weird pizzas such as the Gringo, corn chips, cream cheese, guacamole, jalapeño, onions, and sour cream, and the Go Bananas, bacon, banana, brown sugar, cheese, chilli flakes, cream cheese, and sweet chilli sauce. Although not all the pizzas sound appetising, the ‘weird’ in Mojo’s Weird Pizza rings true. If you’re not into weird pizzas, they also have classic pizzas as well such as pepperoni and the lot. I’ve never actually ate at Mojo’s Weird Pizza — I don’t even know if there are spaces to eat, but they are a popular delivery and take away option, which is what I always do. When I had the pizzas the first couple of times, I really liked it, but after the last few times, I realised it’s just not that great. Yes, the pizzas can be innovative, but they put too much ingredients on the actual pizza and it gets really soggy. They don’t taste that great — some things just shouldn’t be on pizzas. And it’s slightly more expensive than other takeaway options. If you want takeaway pizza, just go to your local pizza shop or Crust — it will most likely be better and cheaper.

It’s bloody hard to get good pizza in Melbourne and these guys, though obviously trying to separate themselves from the pack, aren’t really doing much to improve things. They suffer from dry old crusty base syndrome and the classic trap of over-topping pizzas. There is nothing worse than a dry old crusty base rendered soggy by over-topping and this is exactly what they do. I won’t be as harsh as the last bloke because at least they’re trying to be different. But what sucks about Melbourne pizzas in general is that most stray from the basic Italian designs and this is where they fall down. I’m a big believer in three toppings being an absolute maximum on any pizza. If you adhere to this thinking, Mojo’s ain’t for you.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised the first time I tasted Mojo’s Weird Pizza’s pizza. I can’t say I that my expectations were high, however, with a business name such as this. But they were definitely better than your average Pizza Hut or Domino’s, and definitely worse than almost any other independent pizza maker you will try. They do have all the same flavours of pizza as the usual franchise delivery service, as well as their own brand of ‘weird pizzas’, which I have to say in general do sound pretty weird and often are surprisingly workable flavour combinations. At $ 19.90 for a normal pizza or $ 21.90 for a ‘weird’ one they are not particularly cheap either.

Mojo’s Weird Pizzas really do live up to their name. The weirdest pizzas are probably the following two: Go Bananas — Bacon, BANANA, brown sugar, chilli flakes, cheese and sweet chilli sauce Dog’s Breakfast — Bacon, Sausage, BAKEDBEANS, onion, egg, mushrooms and HPSAUCE A further look at the rest of their menu and there are some really great sounding pizzas. But having ordered here on a number of occasions, the pizzas haven’t been all that. The base is often quite dry and tough. And the base to toppings ratio isn’t quite right. There is often a sea of toppings on the pizzas. And Mojos isn’t cheap either. You are paying gourmet pizza prices. I’d definitely try it once as you have to experience it. But for a gourmet pizza I’d rather go to Crust.
