If you want to escape the hordes in The Rocks and Circular Quay and come to somewhere a bit quieter Walsh Bay is always a good idea and if you want some quality and authentic Indonesian food then definitely come to Teras Bali. There’s so much to choose from on the menu and they are all good. A word to the wise if you’re trying their famous spicy chicken be prepared as it really is spicy. I’ve ordered it once and the waitress, who was Indonesian, told me it was too spicy for her. I tried it anyway and it was delicious but did blow my brains out a little! The nasi goreng and the mee goreng are always great staples and the flavours are always fresh! You really can’t beat sitting outdoors here on a balmy Sydney night! Highly recommended!

Great authentic Indonesian food right by the quieter side of the harbour at Walsh Bay. The menu is extensive. I try something different everytime I come here, and all the dishes blow me away. The staff are polite, attentive, put their customers as their number one priority. I feel like I’m dining in Asia here, with the exceptional level of service. Views of the quiet harbour are priceless. The inside is decorated in a modern Indonesian style. Been here around 5 times and been amazed by the food, views and service each time. One of my favourite restaurants in Sydney.

I don’t usually dare tread near The Rocks — the idea of getting stuck in the hordes of khaki and bad hat-clad tourists clutching at their backpack straps makes me sweat. However, a recent office move to Circular Quay has forced my colleagues and I to begrudgingly venture out into the mysterious beyond in search of more diverse dining options. And that’s how we ended up on the docks one balmy night at Teras Bali. We lounged in cabana-style seating outside, just a few meters from the water enjoying our cheeky cocktails and munching on a spread of traditional Indonesian delights. The menu is large with options from satay skewers to curries, and several choices for carb-conscious«rabbit-food-eaters» like myself. My friend and I had an entrée and main each, with a cocktail or two for a total of just over $ 100. Fab choice for a liquid dinner with girlfriends, or even a great date spot.

Indonesian food doesn’t get much better than this in Sydney — and I have tried many Indonesian restaurants and cafes in this city. Delightful, authentic, fresh flavours are good to explore — we had a delicious fish sate — Ikan Lilit, a house specialty Ayam Goreng — fried chicken with Kacap Manis(sweet soy), a yummy eggplant dish as well as good side dishes. Try the nut crackers — emping or the huge prawn crackers. The ambience is wonderful — we dined outside on the terrace with views of the water, boats and wharves — reminds me of waterside dining in Bali. A glass of wine and Indonesian black coffee plus a dessert surprise(3 authentic morsels) were a delight too. Friendly service by the Indonesian waiters made the night memorable — thanks Irawan for taking care of us so well.

Located across the road from the Sydney Theatre Company at Walsh bay with a lovely view of part of the harbour(not bridge or Opera House). We were seated just after 6pm & were only able to select from the pre theatre menu, I assume these are the quickest dishes to prepare & serve. We ordered 1 small plate &2 main dishes thinking the small plate would be served 1st as an entrée with the other 2 after we’d finished that. Unfortunately all 3 dishes arrived at the same time, meaning the main dishes were almost cold by the time we’d finished the 1st! The highlight dish for me was the Gulai Ikan Salem(salmon and mussels cooked in turmeric broth), it was delicious. We also had the Selada Ayam Bali(warm shredded chicken with lemongrass salsa) which was a bit tasteless for my liking, Rendang Sapi(braised beef with eggplant in coconut cream) — very rich. For dessert we shared Death by Chocolate, chocolate cake with ganache and warm chocolate sauce, ok, but nothing special.
