One of the beaches just outside of Warrnabool, there are numerous adds on the way declaring it to be a whale watching spot. I suspect that you have to be there at the right time to actually see a whale, and I suspect that one of those times does not happen to be Easter(actually, I’m not much of a whale watcher so I can’t actually say when you are supposed to watch them). What I did end up spotting were surfers, but then again I suspect that you tend to always find surfers at surf beaches(though I wonder if the surfers and the whales mix). Actually, it’s a pretty good surf beach, but then again most of the beaches around Warrnambool are pretty good for surfing. However, what stands out is the huge deck that stands on top of the sand dune that looks out to the sea — namely so that you may happen to catch a glimpse of a whale. They do have a number of plaques talking about whales, however when I was there I didn’t have the pleasure of spotting one.

Beautiful spot at the end of Great Ocean Drive. Viewing platform and there’s also stairs leading down to the beach where you can go and take a walk. Off leash dog beach between April to July, it’s on leash on other times to protect nesting birds. There is also a Facebook page that will keep you up to date with Whale sightings.
