I’m not sure what this bar is like as I was refused entry. Apparently having a tattoo on your throat is grounds for discriminatory action in the way of refusal of entry. I’ve had no problems entering bars in Melbourne CBD, New York, San Francisco, Santa Barbara or LA. This place is clearly run by archaic, old-school bigoted folks who are attempting to create a tattoo-free environment in the hopes of gaining allure… If you’re all for equality, do yourself and humanity a favour, and head into the CBD. On a side note, the doorman was very friendly and realised the peculiarity of what he is paid to enforce.

Werribee is moving on up, to the west side, in a deluxe apartment in the sky. All kidding aside, it is located in the rather ‘rustic’ Werribee adjacent to the station. Security and ID checks were at the door that night. As you enter the space opens up and you’re welcomed by taps on taps on taps at the bar. I order Two Birds Taco beer, which was quite delicious. As for the food, it was standard pub food. My friend ordered the Asian noodle dish, which tasted like yellow curry or had a coconut milk base. The dish wasn’t bad, but just lacked a protein element. Our friends stuck with the pub staples of pepperoni pizza enough for 2 – 3 people, in addition to chips. The tap list offered a nice array of local Australian and American craft beer, that’s right, leave your VB and tinnies at home. I was pleased to see bottles of lambics, fruits and sours from the rather limited style offerings from any other establishment. They also do trivia night on Thursdays and have live music on Fridays. Excellent place for afterwork drinks or dinner.

This is my new hangout since no longer working in the city. Great craft beer selection both bottled and on tap which I love. You can get take aways earlier in the evening which nets you a discount as well so you can drink good beer at home too! BONUS ! Trivia on Wednesday nights is good fun(although someone needs to fix the terrible issues with the TV screens that happen some weeks) The is a great crowd and it’s lots of fun. The Park has a seasonal menu with a good selection of foods, small, large and pizza. I have to say I liked the previous menu better than the current one so I’m looking forward to the change again soon. The Parma is great a nice serve and a standard on the menu. A wider dessert selection would be good as some nights we only head down after having had dinner so a sweet bite would be great. The outside courtyard is large and well appointed with a no smoking area outside making this somewhere I will enjoy in summer.

If this place was anywhere in inner city, it would be one of our favorite hangouts. Amazing craft beers, good food selection, open area and attentive staff. I do think they can do better pork belly. Out of three served pieces, one was amazing while one was bit dry. However it’s still better than lot of other pork bellies in Melbourne. Beer battered fries, mussels were nice too. And I’ve already mentioned why I like the menu(in check-in tips).

FINALLY Werribee has a pub to be proud of. In place of an old dingy dive, a flower has blossomed. Friendly staff, an enormous range of craft brews(beer and cider), a great tasty menu, and a lovely outdoor beer garden. Full time security help keep the clientele at a standard. A large venue with plenty of spots to kick back and relax. The Park is a Godsend for people in the West looking for a fun, relaxed pub with a high standard of service and offerings(both food and the liquid variety).
