We had the lamb shank and also the moussaka. Both were really delicious. Not a lot of places have lunch specials on weekends so I was quite surprised that both dishes were only $ 15 on a Saturday.

This place has everything. Main sized platters, entrée sized mains, pygmy sized entrees and some guy with a lute. Impress your companion with the premium tap — I’m sorry, ‘still’ water. I feel sorry for my baby octopus. Poor little fellas didn’t stand a chance. Died in an avalanche of potatoes along with all my expectations and damn it, really, this was so disappointing.

If you want to eat poison chemicals, dine here! The worst meal I have ever had. Ordered the fetuccini with moreton bay bugs and it tasted like ammonia. The waiter insisted that my food was supposed to taste like chemicals and offered me a $ 10 voucher for ‘next time’ Thanks for the food poisoning, l will be reporting to Queensland health.

We came to eat at a very busy time of the night. The dishes definitely cater towards larger groups and encourage sharing, which is nice. We ate outdoors on a particularly very cold and windy night but the staff was accommodating and happily adjusted the outdoor heating lamps for us.

Unfortunately, I was not a fan of this restaurant at all. For the amount of people dining there on a regular basis, I really question whether I just got it on an off day. My dining trio and I decided to try this place out on a whim. We suspected that the delicious smells of roasting meat were coming from this establishment, however I found out much later, that it was more than likely coming from Char Char Yiros next door. We went with the banquet style menu, starting with the mixed dips and bread and calamari and ending with the mixed grill. Nothing about this food was authentic or remotely delicious. The dips all tastes like unseasoned yogurt, the calamari was rubbery and soggy, and the meats were beyond overcooked and dry. As, there are much better Greek and Mediterranean options in west end, I think you may be better off Unilocaling a bit more.

Consistent good food and service, do yourself a favour and enjoy the west End parade as it passes right by your table.

It’s probably one of the better greek places in Brisbane, despite there not being a greek in sight. They still do the food pretty well. Unfortunately they don’t do my favourite food, but what they do is usually pretty good. We got the banquet, which is probably a bit too expensive, but you will not walk away hungry. In fact, I’d challenge you to eat it all!

I loved my time at Ouzeri. I would really recommend it as a welcome alternative to the day in day out café scene. Here we had chargrilled meats, fantastic salads, fresh tasting greek wine and bitter bitty greek coffee. A homely atmosphere, laid back and uncomplicated. The restaurant knows itself and whilst it is themed, it feels authentic and natural. Get in there!

There’s something very cool about the vibe of this place, with its always buzzing crowd, footpath dining and big white tablecloths. Personally in terms of value for money Greek food I’d rather have a yiros next door, but I must confess to having my taste buds tingle by the smells and visual spectacle of their mezethes plates every time I walk past Ouzeri, often en route(or coming from) the pub next door. I’ve even been tempted to steal the dishes off the table and run cackling into the night, but fortunately I’ve been able to keep that impulse in check. As for the food, on the sole occasion I dined there I carnivorously chose the ‘Mixed grill’, which had a Noah’s ark like selection of meat(lamb, beef, sausages + more). It was tasty but I kind of felt like a mass murderer after finishing it. Another member of the party was disappointed in their moussaka, reporting it was too salty.

I went to Ouzeri in West End for dinner not to long ago. Its checkered blue and white table clothes and very relaxed atmosphere were what drew us in initially. And after a quick look at the menu we decided to share what would turn out to be a delicious platter. I love a place where a reservation is not necessary to get in straight away. The food was fantastic and more than enough to fill all three of us that were dining that night. It is also BYO for a small corkage free($ 2 if I recall correctly) allowing my friends and I to down our cheap bottle of wine with our meal. The service was good, not the speediest around but I like that when I am dining in because it allows you to sit, soak up the atmosphere, and talk to the people you are with. They really don’t rush you at all and have ample seating(mainly outside). I would definitely go back the next time I am craving good Mediterranean food.

I actually don’t recall a time in which I ate at an authentic Mediterranean restaurant since going to Ouzeri last night. Obviously I have had Mediterranean food before, but never prepared by the professionals I don’t think. Either way, I think I am a fan now. Ouzeri is a cute little restaurant located in West End. From the outside looking in you’ll notice that the seating is predominantly alfresco. I have to admit, that this pairs well with the simple and fresh flavors of the food itself. This being said, my dad thought we were a little too close to the road itself. A large bus driving past us, probably less then a meter from our table, is what inspired my dad to make such a comment I imagine. Needless to say, this did not deter the family from eating and drinking to excess throughout the evening. As always, the Trestons employed the share everything style of eating. First we ordered a large vegetarian platter that was surprisingly filling, even though it was spread across five adults. This being said, the three Treston men shared a main size serving of meatballs afterwards as we polished off the remaining white wine. The best feature of the restaurant is probably the relaxed atmosphere. The waiters were very accommodating and never attempted to do that annoying, «did you want the cheque», remark which translates directly to, «please leave since you’ve finished eating». Instead, we were allowed to enjoy the atmosphere of the area as we had a lengthy chat about everything and anything. In summary, our trip to Ouzeri was a total success. We all had a great time and enjoyed the food and atmosphere tremendously(aside from the brief encounter with the bus). This is definitely a fantastic place to eat if you are looking for a casual venue to have a pleasant and relaxed time among friends and family.

Ouzeri used to be amazing! WHATHAPPENED?! Ouzeri is adorable from the outside; blue and white checkered tablecloths, umbrellas overhead, lots of people tucking into their food, and(dare I say?) delicious aromas wafting from inside the restaurant. Maybe the herbs just smell amazing, or maybe the smell was coming from elsewhere. Because the food was not that great at all. Like I said, this used to be one of me favourite Greek restaurants in Brisbane, but I feel like the standard had dropped significantly in the past year or so. The waiters and waitresses are not Greek(not their fault I’m sure, I believe it has something to do with genetics) so don’t expect them to help you pronounce any of the items on the menu. And don’t expect them to smile or be too friendly. Do expect them to up sell and suggest that you need more food for your table though. The food itself… well, I’ve had better. There is a decent range of options, including souvlaki, dips and breads, dolmades, quail and beef, Greek sausages, octopus, and vegetarian options. But unfortunately the dishes themselves fall into the ‘it’s okay’ category. I’m waiting for this place to get better before I go back. Otherwise it will take a lot of Ouzo to get through another meal here.
