Needing to grab some quick takeaway I scanned Willoughby Road and I had two Thai options — Kaffir Lime or Rim Tang. Deciding that Rim Tang didn’t sound as appealing I went with Kaffir Lime. A relatively new addition to Willoughby, Kaffir Lime has done a decent job at creating a modern Thai eatery. It doesn’t have the flair of say Stir Crazy but it is done up enough to feel clean and chic(ish) inside. I decided to order a little differently that I usually would so I picked ‘Prawn On Beetle Leaves’($ 10.90) as a starter and a a signature ‘Lamb Shank Panang’($ 19.50). Both were delicious but the curry won out as the beetle leaves were a bit on the dry side. Overall a really good Thai option that has more to offer than just a stock standard menu.

I like this Thai Restaurant mostly for it’s décor. It has comfy chairs, dark colourings, quality furnishings and tables are set a la carte style. It’s fairly easy to escape the bumbling thorough fare of Willoughby Road too. Meals are presented beautifully — decoration flowers, scallop shells, banana leaf, stacked duck rolls — the menu isn’t just about Thai flavours it’s also about Thai presentation. My menu picks are: Prawn on Betel leaves($ 10.90) Roasted duck jungle curry with spicy red curry without coconut milk with fresh herbs, eggplant, bamboo shoot, mushroom, green bean and basil leaves($ 17.90) Pork Belly Polah with slowly cooked five spices in dark soy sauce with steamed baby bok choy and chili vinegar($ 18.90) I would go here for an intimate dinner with close friends or a hubby.
