I mentioned in a review that a friend, who is an actor, pushed me to take acting classes with him. What I didn’t mention was that the course we did was so enjoyable that I went to several others and am beginning to think seriously about pursuing a career in acting. In other words, if it wasn’t for him, I could be on a completely different and possibly less enjoyable path. Last night, he may have outdone himself. He invited me to a play at The Old Fitzroy and it was so invigorating that I’m now contemplating doing theatre(I’d been set on screen acting). I don’t know if it would’ve been as captivating though if it weren’t held in this theatre — it’s small(it has a capacity of about 100), which meant the performance by the two actors was very intimate and real, and the great audio and lighting meant everything the audience needed to hear and see could be heard and seen. Also, I was told it’s one of the few theatres into which people can take food and drinks, so that’s another bonus.
