Huisbrouwerij ‘t Pakhuis

Large calm Brasserie a
fair trek from central Antwerp, but worth the hike for
their party beer. It is a little bit strong, but more than a little but tasty!
There are some weaker beers that are quite nice, especially if you fancy more
than a couple of beers, but the party beer has to be the stand out. Very large venue. Could
accommodate quite a crowd.

This was my first time to Europe and I was in Antwerp for work. One of my co-​workers in Antwerp was kind enough to take me and some colleagues to dinner at ‘t Pakhuis.
First off, Belgian beer is awesome! They brew it themselves here. I went with the blonde beer that had slightly less alcohol content so we ordered one pitcher of that and one of the darker beer. I learned in Belgium, they are very particular about the type of glass that you use with a particular beer. So those that were having the darker ones had a wider glass than I. It is also taboo to pour the wrong beer in the wrong glass but after a few glasses, my Belgian colleagues threw that rule out the window.
I had the best beef carpaccio salad. Very little greens but the carpaccio together with the shaved parmesan and sun-​dried tomatoes were just too good. I also had a fish entrée but not sure why I would try fish in Belgium when I was certain it couldn’t beat the fish in Hawaii. I was right in that case but all in all, I really enjoyed myself. Probably the beer made up for the fish at that point. Belgian beer was the best cure for my jetlag (12 hour difference) also!
I highly recommend ‘t Pakhuis for the great beer, ambiance (relaxing atmosphere), and attentive staff. I’m sure good company makes it even better.

Decent brewpub with reasonable priced food

Nette Hausbrauerei mit leckerem Bier und leckerem Essen. Wir waren zu einem Event hier und bekamen Fingerfood und Häppchen gereicht, so dass ich nichts zur regulären Karte sagen kann.
Das Bier schmeckt auch gut — aber Obacht, das eine hat 9% Alkohol.
Der Eingang zur Brauerei ist im Hof, was aber von aussen nicht so recht zu sehen ist.
