La Villette

I was taken here by a group of colleagues who patronize this establishment often and were full of praise. I ordered the entrecôte which came with a side of Belgian fries. It was a little chewy but the flavor was delicious. The atmosphere was super cozy and lively-​not recommended if you are sensitive to sound– but that could have been due to my party of 8 haha! The restaurant is quite small and the tables are snug– a very European experience and one you shouldn’t miss! I’d go back!

This was a lovely little restaurant in the quiet St. Catherine quarter. The ambiance is a little nicer downstairs, but if you attempt the extremely steep steps to the upstairs, you will be rewarded by many cute signs for Belgian beers. The sausage, herring, and cheese croquette appetizers were all delicious, but if you must choose, go for the sausage. However, the mussels were a bit of a letdown. While they were MASSIVE, they were pretty gritty. One of my table mates later said it might have been little pearls because of the time, but I hadn’t had that experience with any of the other mussels I’d had the same week. The crêpe was a nice dessert, but the highlight was the speculoos ice cream — delicious!

A perfect choice for enjoying Belgian cuisine! The food is authentic, delicious (surprise) and service to match. Do not miss the sausage sampler…5 different sausages all made on premises… perfect. Terrific steaks well prepared with a variety of Belgian sauces that blew my mind. I’m pretty much a salt & pepper guy when it comes to steaks and had bought into the idea that Eurpean steak sauces were to hide the poor quality of the meat, Au Contraire! I had a cheese based sauce that was extraordinary. They also served a complimentary after dinner drink that they mix on premises that included almond, pear and apple liquers… delightful. The kind of local eatery you don’t want to miss!
