Lorette was highly recommended as one of the best stores in Brussels to purchase good quality chocolates. I was very pleased with the quality and selection. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, offering suggestions and free samples. I was in the store for quite a while, chatting, sampling chocolates and thoroughly enjoyed my visits. I love chocolates! I ordered several bags of chocolate to bring to Canada and we thoroughly enjoyed every morsel. The truffles are my favourite. The chocolates were beautifully packed for travel. The chocolates were freshly made the day before and was remained fresh a few weeks later. Thank you ladies for the free samples and the hospitality. I look forward to seeing you again or when Rita travel to Canada with lots of chocolates for me. Krishna S

I was looking for a chocolatier close to where I was staying. Thanks to the previous reviewer, I found Lorette! The owner was very talkative and helpful. She explained their chocolates are produced by a small family-run chocolatier. The ingredients are pure and it shows in the chocolates. The prices seem to be better than Godiva and Neuhaus as well! I wish they travelled better as I would order some up immediately! I think my favourites were ginger, clove and pistachio. I chose their house selection of darks for my friend I stayed with. I heard they were fantastic as well. I cannot wait to visit you again! This review was written in 2009

Lorette is the chocolate shop beloved of all Eurocrats working around the Schuman Quarter. Tucked away in a little side-street, I almost wonder whether this was the inspiration for the book Chocolat. The window displays, regularly changed, positively dazzle and light up a very humdrum neighbourhood, and the Flemish lady owner is a delight to meet, almost therapist rather than chocolatier. The speculoos and marzipan and almond bars could give you a coronary, but they’re divine and a bargain at about EUR3. The chocolates themselves are extraordinary — she uses only the very finest Belgian chocolate, and you’ll find dark chocolate ripped apart by a sudden rush of flavours that she’ll tease you to identify before telling you what they are. She will give you sample after sample, and wraps everything extremely prettily. A delight of a shop, and so much more lively than the Godivas and Marcolinis of Brussels. Come Christmas and Easter, you won’t just find eggs and trees, but chocolate squirrels, shoes and all sorts of wonderful things. Go forth and savour!
