From Manaus, by boat it takes almost 2 hours in a fast boat or up to 4 hours in a large, slow boat – bring a hammock. The place is beautiful and tranquil. If you can afford it, hire a sea-plane to fly over it. The view of the forest is a never-ending sea of green. The Anavilhanas archipelago includes hundreds of islands in the Rio Negro. They say an area of 350,000 hectares with a perimeter of over 300 km carved out by Brazil as a World Heritage Site in the late 90’s. Lots of islands and canals within the Rio Negro and end less river forrest.
