Overpriced, not as good quality as other sushi restaurants nearby. Also terrible service. Came on a busy night, but I stayed because the hostess told me it would be a 20 – 30 min wait. I had to wait for over an hour.

Service here wasn’t the best but the food was great– my first time trying the lunch menu. I waited about 15 minutes on an outside patio table before someone came to bring me a menu. I was waiting for a friend and didn’t flag anyone over so I’ll give them that. Once we sat down inside it took some asking to get another menu and quite a while to get our order in. The waiter looked like a new and young guy who didn’t know what he was doing and didn’t offer us an drink options. Lunch is a smaller menu then dinner. It comes with a few special commemorative dishes for their 10 yr anniversary. They also offer sushi sets and a few options for entradas(appetizers), principais(main course) and sobremesas(desserts). You can choose a entrada and principais or a principais and sobremesa or all three of you’re hungry. The salmon tartare entrada is delicious, lightly seasoned with sesame seeds, in the top of a martini glass on a layer of white cream. It’s quite filling and of generous size. I had the crispy shrimp in a gorgeous presentation around a mound of coconut rice. It was very tasty. The shrimp had their shells on but where crispy like soft crab. It was accompanied by a mild but complimentary cocktail sauce. My friend tried the pad Thai and said it was decent, which is sometimes hard to find around here. For dessert I tried the bananas flambé and it was a great presentation when she lit the alcohol on fire(see video). The caramelized sugar was delicious. It took a while to get our bill and even longer to get change! But all in all, if you have some time to spare the food is excellent if you can be patient with the service.

Togu is a small Japanese restaurant in the heart of the gastronomic area of Leblon neighbourhood, in Rio de Janeiro. Dias Ferreira is a street packed with good options in terms of high end restaurants. Nevertheless, if you fancy a good all you can eat Japanese menu, or fancy a small meal, this could be the place for you(do not go for the all you can eat meal, choosing a la carte choices since there are really nice dishes to choose as well). If you love sushi and cannot stop eating them, go for the all you can eat option(rodízio in Portuguese). Sashimis are really fresh as it would be expected for a high end restaurant like Togu. Quality of hot Philadelphia is superb. For those who are not familiar with this warm sushi with salmon and cream cheese, try this one, with the crusty outside simply perfect. After eating so much I could barely speak, I was presented with the included desert: a delicious apple and cinnamon harumaki with cinnamon ice cream. Absolutely spot on. The only downsides are the high price, which is expected for that area and sort of quality anyway, and the exclusion of the all you can eat menu of all the pieces containing any sort of roe.

Solid choice for sushi in Leblon. There are several sushi places in this area, and this is the first one I’ve had, but it was far better than the sushi I tried in Ipanema. The menu does have a wide variety if you are in the mood for something else, but there are plenty of options in sushi alone. Aside from the standard rolls, sashimi, temake, etc, they also have a list of exotic sushi. They only come with one piece each, but they are delicious. If you’re able to find a seat, definitely stop in to try out their food.

Good place for sushi. Not many rolls. Pretty much just tuna and salmon but very fresh. Its a bit pricy but Leblon is expensive.

It was my first time there in this small quaint restaurant in Leblon. The seating is relatively small, probably approximately 30 – 40 people inside, and a couple of tables outside. The menu is pretty diverse, I went in thinking Japanese, and while Japanese is their specialty, I’d say its a mixture. There was Pad Thai, dumplings, spring rolls, which are not items you tend to find in a Japanese restaurant. We shared an appetizer(carne seca dumplings with a pepper jelly sauce) which was an interesting combination. A mix of brazil and asia. We also had a Sushi Combination dish(~R$ 90). Salmon, tuna, white fish — all were pretty fresh and really pretty. Should have taken a photo. It was nice that we were able to ask them to switch out the California rolls for tekkamaki, as none of us were keen on California rolls. For dessert we tried their Brownie & ice cream. Nutty and flavorful, a good end to the dinner(and yes, nothing traditionally asian about it, but still great!). They have a full bar, and menus in English as well. Was a nice place for a quick dinner catch-up with friends. Three stars for now, as it was a good start, maybe will go again to try other options on the menu, to see if I am a Fan :)
