Pretty good food, it’s a good place for a first introduction to chilean cuisine for those less adventurous when it comes to trying new things.
The service was good, although a bit too slow.
If you’ve heard Chilean food is boring and you want to make your own mind about it, you should not take Galindo as the only opinion; while the food is good, it’s not the most interesting way of getting to know some of the typical chilean dishes.
Overall, a very good alternative to going to the central market or Tirso de Molina for your tradition fix.

Pésima experiencia.
La primera vez que vine fue regular, y ahora por segunda vez vengo y pedí dos chuletas, una derechamente tenía sangre, estaba cruda.
Réclame, y me dicen que yo debería haberles dicho antes el punto de cocción. Permiso pero: hasta mi bebe que aún no nace sabe que el cerdo se come bien-​cocinado, no existen términos medios como con el vacuno, porque es peligroso para la salud y porque sabe asqueroso (para una Austrolopitecus puede ser delicioso).
El dinero se puede gastar mejor en otro lugar.

La verdad es que este local es un lugar turístico con buena comida chilena, la mayoría de las veces se encuentra lleno y hay que esperar para poder pasar.
El par de veces que he ido hay buenas chorrillanas para compartir, ricos platos que no son tan elaborados, pero muestran en gran parte nuestra cultura culinaria a la variedad de extranjeros que asisten a dicho local, finalmente la carta de cervezas es también buena, cervezas belgas como gulden draak y brugel en formato shop en conjunto con kross (creo).
Buen local donde se puede disfrutar un rico plato.

We were looking for a place to eat dinner in Barrio Bellavista. This place was packed at dinner and the menu looked good so we decided to come back and eat here. There was outdoor seating on the sidewalk but we chose to eat inside. We ordered the lomo a lo pobre (steak with fried egg on top) and a pastel de choclo and beers. The food was really tasty. The pastel de choclo was like a creamed corn casserole and it was amazing. The lomo also came with papas fritas. Lots of fried goodness and so amazing. The atmosphere was fun too. They were playing a soccer game on the TVs and one of the waiters was super into it, while working. We couldn’t finish our food, so we got a to go box (which younger charged for). We were able to pay with credit card and split it on two cards. Really great place for dinner and to try typical Chilean dishes!

Muy rica la comida en relación al precio. Es un lugar que llama la atención por la cantidad de gente que va. El pastel de choclo exquisito y tiene una gran variedad de platos de comida chilena para regodearse.

Pastel de choclo (clay pot of mashed corn/​ground beef/​egg/​chicken/​olives/​raisins!) + carmenere + sidewalk ambience and strolling musicians= happy happy gal who, for the moment, feels as if she is Chilean though the tastes sights and sounds of Barrio Bellavista on a Saturday night! Skip the familiar and trust their specialty plates… Great service too. 2 entrees and a nice bottle of wine for less than $ 30.

Un clásico para turistas y para locales el Galindo es un lugar donde se puede encontrar una buena cocina chilena a un precio accesible para todos.
Tiene una selección que va del consomé de pollo (sopa de pollo) hasta preparaciones como el pastel de choclo y también pasando por sandwiches típicos chilenos, todo en formato muy abundante.
No será el mejor restaurante del mundo pero siempre está lleno, debe ser por lo generosos de sus platos.
Como dato tiene un buen shop de marca propia que por menos de $ 2.000 está bien bueno.

Excellent, traditional fare in a great location. The empanadas were amazing. Highly recommend this place for great chilean food!

This restaurant in the heart of Bella Vista serves traditional Chilean dishes for reasonable prices considering the neighborhood. The customers were a mix of tourists and Chileans.
We tried the:
Pastel de Choclo — a hearty mix of sweet corn, ground beef, onion, and other veggies. This would have been delicious if it wasn’t so sweet. I’m not sure if this was from the corn or if they added sugar, but I couldn’t finish this because of how big the portion was and because of how sweet it got after a few bites.
Paila Marina — I preferred this dish! It was jumbo sized bowl of seafood soup with lots of mussels, clams, squid, and large pieces of white fish. The soup was briny and very flavorful.
Overall, a good and safe introduction to Chilean cuisine, but you could probably find better versions in more local neighborhoods!

I was craving for some fresh seafood and I run into this place. It was delicious! I order Congrio a lo pobre. It’s a fried fish with fries, caramelized onions and 2 fried eggs ($ 6400) the other people in our table got really tiny dishes too. Great place to eat some good Chilean food. Great prices too.

Empanada the size of my face! Stopped here on my way to San Cristobal. A hot coffee and empanada were just what I needed after landing in Santiago that morning. The empanadas was more than enough and kept me full till dinner! Great food and value.

I was excited about this place, but it disappointed me. The cazuela de ave was just so badly prepared. I was literally served a large piece of chicken in a bowl of BOILING WATER. I joke you not. How a cook forgets to make a soup using broth instead of boiling water is beyond me.
My husband’c chuleta and fries at least looked a bit more appetizing.
The next day I had a delicious cazuela at La Vega for a fraction of the price.
Galindo has some nice décor and it’s getting high reviews because of the gringos thinking they are having a traditional Chilean dining experience, but now you have been warned.

There are tons of restaurants in the area, but Galindo is a great spot if you want to try typical Chilean dishes in Bellavista. If you’re not too sure what to try, start off with some Machas a la Parmesana and go for the Pastel de Choclo, Carne Mechada, Arrollado or something «a lo pobre» — all traditional dishes that are made well here.

Un clásico de comida chilena en Santiago. Sus platos de temporada merecen la pena esperar por el cambio de estación, y degustar un buen pastel de choclo en verano, por ejemplo. Pero es su carta de platos tradicionales lo que me parece el sitio perfecto para darse un baño de chilenidad con calidad garantizada.
¿Qué pedir?. Si hace frío, yo me iría directo a nuestra legendaria cazuela chilena. De carne o pollo. Esta enjundiosa sopa europea se cocina en todo Chile y la fórmula es simple pero contundente: Caldo de carne con verduras y un agregado espesante que varía, según la región y la temporada, entre arroz, fideos o chuchoca (maíz tierno deshidratado y molido).
Si la idea es un buen trozo de proteína, el Galindo es excelente opción para probar el arrollado y el costillar de cerdo, un buen trozo de plateada o algún sandwich como nuestro típico Barros Luco (carne y queso caliente).
¿El único problema? Sea al mediodía o en la noche, cuesta encontrar mesas disponibles.
¿Una recomendación? Bellavista es un barrio turístico y por ende muy activo, pero aglomeraciones de gente significan también un imán para robos rápidos a turistas desprevenidos.
En la calle cuesta encontrar estacionamiento, pero a una cuadra están disponibles los del subterráneo pagado de Patio Bellavista.

This place gets super busy so be prepared for a line. It is cheap Chilean food that tastes great so even though it can get a bit touristy it is worth the food. The service is just meh, but I think that may be the case at most restaurants in Santiago. I would recommend the corn dish — pastel de choclo! Delicious! It’s a huge serving too.

Siendo extranjera, debo decir que de los restaurantes de comida chilena que hay en Santiago, este es al que más vuelvo. Tal vez sea por su ubicación, pero como está en Bellavista y es tan turístico, siempre termino ahí cuando vienen visitas de otros países, los que salen encantados con lo «pintoresco» que es todo.
Mis favoritos de Galindo son sin duda los pescados en todas sus preparaciones. No sé qué le pondrán, pero son adictivos!

Comida chilena for real y de la buena-​buena. Vuelvo y vuelvo. El mejor congrio frito y humitas, aunque los porotos granados han ido perdiendo calidad. La atención es excelente y es panorama garantizado si tiene que sacar a pasear a algún extranjero. ¡Un aplauso por estar abierto casi los 365 días del año! Un verdadero amigo en tu hambriento camino si estás en Bellavista.

Llegamos un domingo alrededor de las 16 hs. y había espera, pero a pocos minutos de anotarnos ya nos habían hecho pasar a nuestra mesa.
Pedimos el imperdible pastel de choclo y también una reineta con agregado, ambos platos estaban buenísimos!

The bean soup (porotos) is good during the winter. Cheapish good beer with an above average selection. I was told from a friend who went to law school in Bellavista that this was a spot they frequented after class for a good value on food and beers.
I think it must be listed in the Lonely Planet as there are consistently quite a few backpackers and usually a bit of a wait before they can squeeze you into a table (from experience a two top in the corner). If you are staying near Bellavista and want a good consistent and good value Chilean meal, come here and don’t consider the Patio’s options.

We stumbled into this place by chance. Well, it was packed so we waited for a table while suspecting it would be good. It didn’t take long to get a table.
We immediately noticed the surprisingly extensive beer menu including 6 craft and international beers on tap and at least 30 more artisan beers in bottles. The easier steered me to have a «schop» which roughly translates to mug. Basically he held me her a larger draft beer for the price of a bottle.
The food is tasty and when it says spicy they mean it. I recommend the spicy pure (pureed parties) and spicy pork. They have all the hearty dishes you could ask for.
Atmosphere includes a mixed crowd from working class to traveler. Not a place to be missed.

Good place for drink beer. Carpaccio of salmon is not salmon, actually. It’s fish from river with orang color

Visiting Santiago from a 17 day cruise and ate at Galindos today for traditional Chilean food. Excellent. We tried the empanadas and the traditional corn pie/​soufflé. Very very good with a Krolls cold beer. Had an English speaking waiter to help us along. Great food and great local atmosphere. Got there before the line at 12:45−1 on a Sunday and 10 mins later there was a 20 minute wait… For a reason. Worth going and enjoy !

5 of us ate here and each meal was fantastic! I had the beef and melted cheese sandwich (sorry, I don’t know the names from the menu). I thought the menu meant all sandwiches come with a side, such as fries, but they mean such as tomato or avocado. The meat was seasoned perfectly and the cheese melty. I loved the fresh bread and how it was grilled slightly.
The steak and fries were great. The fried fish with spicy mashed potatoes was excellent. The clay pot with chicken and veggies was phenomenal. The chicken and rice dish was superior.
They serve bread with butter and pico, which we had seconds of. Service was good. It was the only restaurant in view that was packed, both inside and out. I would LOVE to eat here again and would recommend it to anyone wanting good local food. The prices were very reasonable and the value was definitely there. Just sit near the counter and watch all the wonderful food coming out of the kitchen! Extensive menu means I’ll need to go back often to make the rounds of all they offer.

Galindo, como siempre un agrado.
Comida rica, tragos ricos, gente amable. Los precios son buenos.
NO tienen la mejor chorrillana, NO tienen la mejor empanada, ni tampoco el mejor bistec a lo pobre, pero si los tienen siempre. Es más, el pastel de choclo es un imperdible.

La propuesta se basa en lo que ellos saben hacer y conocen muy bien: la comida chilena. Las empanadas de pino son un clásico, el pastel de choclo, el caldillo y la cazuela, la chorrillana, los porotos granados y los porotos con longaniza y un clásico lomo a lo pobre. La porción no te decepcionará.
Galindo no cree en lujos, cree en su cocina y sí que la saben hacer bien. Es un lugar típico para llevar a cualquier persona que quiera conocer un poco más sobre la gastronomía chilena. Las mesas al aire libre, son una excelente opción.

Traditional Chilean style restaurant right next to Patio Bellavista. Ideal for tourist who want to try a fun atmosphere and good chilean cuisine. This restaurant/​bar is great if you want to escape the chaos of Pio Nono but still enjoy a fun, piola night out.
Galindo is ALWAYS popping and it’s a fun spot to have a full dinner or to just enjoy a few drinks. I love their décor lots of red and white colors fill the room, a very Chilean theme.
They have casuela, chorrillana, empanada, consume and lots lots more. Thier menu is a bit expensive however very good. They also serve artisanal beers and have a full bar.
They have lots of space to sit and enjoy yourself inside, or you can enjoy yourself on their patio. In the winter time they have heaters outside so you’re nice and toasty!

O primeiro restaurante que conheci em Santiago, El Galindo está em pleno Bairro Bellavista e serve comida chilena. Minhas primeiras empanadinhas na cidade não me decepcionaram, e os pratos principais são saborosos e bastante abundantes: comi uma posta de atum com purê de batata que não deixou a desejar. Este restaurante, por ser muito tradicional, está sempre cheio. Mas o atendimento foi bom nas vezes em que fui.
Para os brasileiros que querem conhecer a culinária chilena e resolverem pedir um «pastel de choclo», não estranhem: a massa de milho, ainda que venha com recheio de carne, realmente é doce! E ainda salpicam um pouco de açúcar por cima pra queimar e formar uma sutil camada caramelizada. Ainda que meu paladar não esteja acostumado, gostei do prato! Mas se a mistura de doce com salgado não é a sua praia, melhor não se arriscar.
Os preços são bastante razoáveis para o setor em que se encontra o restaurante. Muito recomendável!

Síii cada vez que han venido amigos o familiares desde el extranjero, los he llevado al Galindo y pucha que lo hemos disfrutado. Ayayai!!!
Es imposible no salir con el ombligo dado vuelta !!! jajajjaa y también medio puesto desde este lugar, por claro, si estas de anfitriona no puedes dejar de pedir el real Pisco Sour chileno o que pedir que te preparen un Navegao!
De los platos hay todo típico chileno, como unos camarones al ajillo, una carne mechada, una plateada, pastel de cholo o un pernil al plato con agregado o porotos con longaniza, wow, hay de todo y rico rico!!!
La relación precio calidad es muy buena, todos quedan felices!!!

Comida típica, cervezas, bohemía, historia y Bellavista, todo esto es parte del tradicional Galindo, un local ubicado en Dardignac 98 esquina Constitución, bar restaurant que funciona hace más de 41 años, ahí podrás disfrutar de un agradable almuerzo o una noche con amigos y un trago a elección.
Una buena alternativa a la hora de almuerzo, sus precios son bastantes buenos si se compara con el producto a consumir, así que si puedes ir te recomiendo el congrio frito con papas, ahora, si tu intención es una noche bohemia con un algo bueno para la sed el Galindo cuenta con una variada opción de cervezas.
El Galindo cuenta con un amplio espacio interior, una barra y una terraza exterior donde podrás fumar.

Es el lugar donde he comido la mejor comida chilena, donde sin pensarlo llevaría a un turista ya que refleja muchas cosas de la idiosincrasia. Esto es Galindo, restaurante de comida típica chilena ubicado en pleno Bellavista.
Me cuesta recomendarles un plato en particular, porque cuando fui todos los que probé me encantaron. Pedimos una entrada de camarones al ajillo. Los sirvieron en un pote de greda en el abundaba el ajo. Como platos pedimos atún y carne mechada con puré picante. Son platos enormes, exquisitos y baratos. Cada uno nos costó $ 5.000.
Se trata de un local con mucha onda, yo creo que también por la zona en que está ubicado. Carteles como los de micro antiguas cuelgan en la fachada con nombres de platos típicos.
Cazuela, humita, lomo, pastel de choclo, productos a lo pobre y más podrán encontrar en su carta.
