If a convenience store mated with Whole Foods, they’ll have a baby named Irma. We stopped in to get bottled water before going back to our hotel. They have fine cheeses, wine, deli items, herbs in pots, craft beer, desserts, etc. Bring a shopping bag with you or don’t buy too many items because they don’t have plastic/paper bags for your stuff. I only got water, sea salt potato chips and beer. I know I wanted to get more stuff but I had to stop myself since I didn’t have a shopping bag with me.

Apart from all the products you would expect to find in any well-stocked supermarket, Irma offers a wide array of food specialties and quality groceries that won’t be found anywhere else. You can also buy a variety of organic and natural foods. I’d like to think that Irma caters to a discriminate city clientele, similar to Whole Foods shoppers in California so be prepared to spend money here. I roamed the aisles for a good hour(slow brain reflexes plus indecisiveness) until I decided on what to snack on: a fancy lobster dip and a bag of knäckebröd(thin crispy bread) So delicious! I strongly recommend grocery shopping at high end super markets while stoned on pot.

When living in Copenhagen(I still live there a little bit) I loooooved Irma! Good quality products, lots of high end speciality products and organic stuff, sustainable and socially responsible business practice — the only thing I used to dislike was the price. Yikes! It is soooo expensive. Anyway, when in Denmark I still do most of my grocery shopping here as they have the best selection of organic, whole foods favourites. But — I spend most of my time in London and Boston, and after a few visits to Whole Foods I have to admit that Irma is nowhere close to their league. There is potential, yes, but still a long way to go. I guess if Whole Foods came to Denmark Irma would have to evolve or die — but till that happens, Irma rules!
