Absolutely love this place. It’s right in the middle of an artsy/hippie community. Surrounded by graffiti art, music, culture. Initially walking in it seems sketchy but don’t be fooled. The host was very welcoming. They served fresh homemade bread and butter. We ordered the chèvre chaud appetizer and the vegetarian entrée, both dishes were amazing. Full of flavor and plenty of food. Highly recommended

Location was a bit sketchy — especially entrance into retaurant but once inside, it was traditional and friendly with hearty good old fashioned food. definitely will return… but during the day :)

Recomendable!

This is one of my favorite places in Copenhagen. the food is consistently good and the the atmosphere is really pleasant in the one big room from the previous military base — which is now the foundation of the free town of Christiania. There is an old feel to the room with its exposed beans and smaller windows. Though the place(especially the location on the boarder of Christiania) would suggest this to be fullblown alternative, the food is actually fairly traditional with only a hint of craziness — like a good cut of beef with traditional Danish creamed potatos — and then with guacamole. I have come there fore several years because of the combinations of the atmosphere and the food and maybe in there lays my only criticism. I dont think they have changed the menu for ages — to some extend who cares — they do what they do well, but still… Only other and actually fairly SERIOUSCRITICISM: last time i noticed they had Sword fish on the menu. I dont know how many stories you come up with. That is a seriously endangered species and there is absolutely no sustainable way of harvesting it. Sword fish just does not belong on any menu!!!

In the words of our København expert, this place is «a little hard to find.» She wasn’t joking. The entrance is away from the street, facing the hemp-and-paranoia fest that is Christiania(4-foot-tall«No Photos» sign every ten meters). Once you find that, it’s past the graffiti, up the stairs, and through an unmarked-and-nearly-invisible door behind you. Once you get inside, it’s a different world. Giant wooden beams support the ceiling, oil lamps provide gently glowing illumination, and Berkeley /San Francisco-grade hipsters weave between the tables, dropping off plates laden with braised mushrooms, mashed potatoes with leeks, and lamb cutlets. I went for the venison, with whipped potatoes and berry compote. The venison was past tender into soft — good, but not what I was hoping for. My wife got fish, with a salmon-spinach soufflé, some fennel, shrimp, fried potatoes, and a good helping of creamy sauce. We started with a soup — translated for us as «like carrots, but white,» which we think was parsnip — that was creamy and rich, but still nicely light. The house red wine was good — but the house white was absolutely amazing. You have to try it. The meals were quite good, but didn’t manage to be as memorable as the experience;
