A bit disappointing to be honest. I read about this place on a blog for gluten free food in Copenhagen, and the author stated that this place was the place to be for a gluten free Saturday brunch. I think not, and many of the other gluten free meals and lunches I had on my trip was way better. The thing with Sult is, it’s a quite nice buffet if you can eat anything. But nevertheless, it’s very similar to a large breakfast buffet at a hotel. And the bigger the buffet, the lower the quality(usually). This time was no different. The options for gluten free were better than in most hotels, but I think actually in the year of 2015, when our knowledge and understanding of gluten free food in the society in general is so good, the buffet at Sult is just not good enough. And I mean, 225 dkk per person for this buffet? Not worth it people. I had the choice to eat about two thirds of the food, excluding bread, pasta salad, cake and some of the warm dishes(marinated chicken skewers and such). There were gluten free bread rolls available, but they were dry and seemed like they’d been laying there all morning. Every celiac knows that gluten free bread needs to be heated to taste proper. The staff at Sult needs to know that too. The food I could eat consisted largely of cuts and spreads, some hot dishes like eggs and bacon, and some cold salads, fruit and vegetables. Most of it had quite a dull presentation, and didn’t look as delicious as it could have done. The taste was fine, but somehow a bit boring and bland. It seems like this buffet is really popular in Copenhagen, because people came and went all the time. There were even some Norwegians(shame on you) that were so unpleased with their resigned table that they complained and got moved to another, and it was a real hassle for the staff. One thing I really liked at Sult was the atmosphere and venue. Sure, it’s big(too big?) and spacey but on a snowy Saturday in November this was just perfect. My mum and I actually sat here for two whole hours, eating and watching the heavy snowfall outside with great pleasure. It was cosy and warm inside, and hectic in a non stressful kind of way. Not sure if I will be back, but it was an interesting try.

Group dinner so expectations were relatively tampered. No need to be concerned though as the service was attentive and the quality of the food was very good. Appetizer was the venison carpaccio with an array of vegetables and a promise of licorice(which I did not taste but I understand there are many flavors…). Very tender and tasty. Main course was the veal on a bed of spinach. It was cooked a little differently — more steamed than grilled but it worked nicely. Very nice evening. Great spot.

Ate here on a Saturday night before seeing a film @ Cinemateket. It was not crowded & the 6 of us had ample room. Everyone’s meal included a small bowl of fries, which were good, but nothing special. The salad bowl was modest with fresh beans & onions was flavor fully dressed. Dessert choices were few(Crème Brûlée or Blueberry tart) & good. The one complaint is that one of our party ordered the chicken & it was tiny, maybe 4 or 5 bites worth, as the choices(salmon, steak, mussels, chicken) were all the same price, this dish was clearly a rip off. The mussels were plentiful & seemed the best option.
