Pelikan is alright, but lacks personality. I feel this is a general problem on Amager where a lot of places are fine, good, passable, but not above and beyond. This a place like the others, but… the staff is great! That’s the definite upside. They are such sweet people, joking and loving being there. And I’m a big fan of people who actually love going to work and having a great time with each other. Makes my heart swell up and shit.

I went out at Café Pelican with a friend to have a beer and chat a little bit. Pelican was her first choice and she sounded quite firm on the phone about this place. I was reassured by her emphasis, I checked it on Unilocal and got there afterwards. The inside is a bit lousy. IKEA lamps, standardized tables, not-so-comfortable chairs, bad lighting, posters picturing pelicans on the wall(seriously?). At first impact I’d give this place two stars. Not more. I’d give two stars also for the lame beer: 50kr for a watery blonde that tasted and looked like dirty water — nothing less nothing more — seems a bit excessive. So I decide to go for some nachos as well as I was getting a bit hungry. The plate arrives after 10 minutes, hot and boiling, with a nice amount of cheddar on the fries, nice dippings and tasty jalapeños to galvanize it all. And I’ll admit they were between 3 and 3.5 stars for quality/price. The experience turned in better because of the waitress, as she was nice and cared about the customer. And this is never to underestimate. An OK place overall. Nothing fancy nor particularly impressive.
