I am about to start a list of the best shawarma/kebab in Copenhagen as that is one of the most important list in the city. Of the neighborhoods in Copenhagen Østerbro is by far the worst for kebab. Nørrebro, Vesterbro, and even downtown kick it’s ass in this very important category. However; there is one little gem that is of note in this wasteland of bad kebab we call Østerbro and that is Frihavn Pizzaria. I am still at a loss as to why all kebab places insist on making pizza as well, but some questions are better left unanswered; as in why in God’s name would anyone start a restaurant and think that Mexican and Indian was a good combination. Okay, sorry for the tangent but I was just commenting on the name because at this place kebab is king. The homemade pitabrød or the durum are fantastic. Good meat, homemade bread, chili that is not left on the table for three weeks and white sauce that resembles real tatziki. On top of this the guys who work behind the counter are super cool. They always smile and are willing to chat even if your Danish is a but rough. All in all, a very good little place amongst the strollers and hair salons that we call Østerbro.
