Frans Josef M has written an excellent review in Danish, I’ll add mine in English. This place is so unique, special, and genuine it is difficult to describe. If however, you are a sensitive traveller and want to understand more about the Danes, if you appreciate the arts and design, you are in love with good craftmanship and unrivalled quality, this place is a must. It hasn’t changed for I’d say, 50 years at least. There is no trace of modern-day commercialism or «let’s-cash-in-on-a-famous-name» kind of attitude. There is no souvenir shop, set up to milking the tourists. Instead, you have some of the most exquisite examples of good furniture design crammed into three floors of an old appartment building. The staff is knowledgeable and not in a hurry. They don’t seem to have the need to sell you anything, probably confident that Rud Rasmussens furniture will sell itself. And anyhow, … the six carpenters working in the workshop wouldn’t want to rush their job, and take on more work than they can comfortably do without compromising on quality. I hope this little enclave of unhurried perfectionism will be allowed to remain a few years more. They have escaped branding and commerciallism so far. Let’s see how long it willl last. Oh, … and the only reason why I haven’t given them five stars, is because they really ought to open the windows from time to time, to renew the oxygen level in the show rooms(Danish double glazing is simply too efficient ;-)). I hope you will enjoy your visit.
