Islands Brygge… yet another part of the part of town that I don’t visit often. Though it seemed tricky to get to by bike, it turned out to be fairly quick using Bryggebroen by Fisketorvet. And a lovely night view to boot! Unfortunately at the moment there is construction around the restaurant so it doesn’t look as nice as the waterfront. Inside is another story. This location is laid out in an L shape; the room closest to the entrance seems to be good for groups and the back part is slightly hidden away, fitting for a date. Eva K. and I were seated in the date area, and I must say it was very romantic in the low light but terrible for photos. The reason we had come«all the way out to Amager» was for Copenhagen Dining Week so that we could enjoy some reasonably-priced Italian food. And despite the low rating average here, I was certainly not disappointed. The first dish is an easy win for me; I am a big fan of tartare and this one was no exception. The dried beetroot, almost tasting like cranberries, worked well with the pinenuts and Parmesan, cutting through any heavy or fatty flavours. When the next course arrived, I wondered if they’d changed the menu. It should have been mussel soup with scallop, gooseberries, fennel, and dill, but what we got was a bright green soup covered with white foam. This was honestly one of the best seafood soups I’ve ever had. The foam had a creamy flavour that went well with the broth that had little hints of sourness thanks to the gooseberries. Luckily there was some bread to mop up the soup; one of them was the typical bread that is popular now with a chewy crumb and a delicious, almost overbaked crust. The other was a more common one found in Italian breadbaskets, something like focaccia which was nicely weighted with oil. Both kinds were perfectly salted. Third came the dish I was most excited about; the pasta! Orrechiette with mascarpone, salsiccia, spinach, and gremolata. The pasta had the perfect bite to it and the sour crumbs of gremolata complimented the sausage and creamy sauce well. And to finish it off, a banana cake with a slightly sour yogurt and a quenelle of caramelly dulce de leche ice cream. This whole meal was an excellent balance especially of sourness, and I am a huge fan of all things sour. So why not the full five stars? One dish was certainly not terrible but didn’t land on the same level as the others; corned beef with butterbeans, cabbage, capers, browned butter, and mustard salad. I can easily live without meat and corned beef is probably my least favourite version, so this was obviously not up my alley. Although the meat was very tender and the accoutrements were ok, this felt more like a filler course. And while the service was efficient and polite, I heard glass breaking 3 times during our meal. Maybe it was because of the hectic nature of Dining Week but it definitely put me on edge. As we were leaving, I noticed that some of the tables had a little bottle of olive oil to go with their bread but we never got one. Again, maybe it was because they were so busy that night. I’d love to come back here again sometime and try their regular menu. Besides those small things, it was an excellent meal with a great balance of flavours.

I went here for Copenhagen Dining Week 2016 with Mina K. We were both smitten by Italian food after our last year’s visit to Parma and Bologna and we wanted to explore more Italian food in our hometown Copenhagen. First of all — this Scarpetta is located way out beyond in Islands Brygge. No, not«langt ude på Amager» since I also live in Amager. It might be located in the poshest part of Islands Brygge, but the only way to reach this place by public transport is by 250S bus, so don’t say you weren’t warned. The review of the five-course menu is following: — Beef tatar with beetroots, basil, pine nuts and parmesan — SOGOOD! I loved it. I was never BFF with beetroots in my life, but these beetroots were nice and a little bit sour, just like cranberries. The tatar and parmesan and the pinenuts combination was divine! — Mussel soup with salted greenland halibut, goose berries and dill — first spoonful of the soup: «Oh it’s green!». Not as in cucumber green or tomato green but more of the spotlight green! At first I thought it was a bit sour and the fish was raw, but the taste grew on me and I polished the bowl without any problem — Fresh pasta with mascarpone, salsiccia and spinach — I must say this was the star of the show. The pasta was yum and the salsiccia crumble was so good, it sent me right back to Parma where Mina K and I had some of the best pasta dish in our lives! — Beef brisket with butterbeans, cabbage and capers — this was the only disappointment in the menu. Not that it tasted bad, it was good, but there was nothing special about it. As Mina K pointed out that night, it felt like they had to throw something meaty in the menu to get your money’s worth. It felt kinda wrong to have your expectation built up and then disappointed by this meh meat dish. — Banana cake with yoghurt and dulce leche icecream — YUM! and I really meant the whole three big letters. It was a very nice combination. The crumbly banana cake with cocoa nibs(?) on top was really good with the sour ice cream and it was a nice finishing to our meal. Overall, I find Scarpetta serves good Italian, not the old fashioned as your Italian mama would make, but a fusion modern one and I obviously want to explore more of their pasta dish in the menu, but maybe I would just stick to their place in Rantzausgade instead for easy access of public transport.

Went here for my boyfriends 40th birthday. So far we had really good experiences with the Cofoco chain so I was expecting good food for decent prices. We could have not been disappointed more. First of service was really slow. We had to wait quite a bit before our order was taken and we got something to drink(and we were not the only ones there who had to wait). We ordered sparkling wine and no water. Some time after we’d ordered we got the question what we’d ordered for drinks, sparkling wine with water? Oh well we were getting pretty thirsty by now so yes, let’s get the water as well. Waiter returns with sparkling wine and white wine(?) so we sent him back for water. Starter was nice: we had a sort of Italian twist to gazpacho. Fresh and lovely so some of our expectations returned. Next round was pasta. Way too much salt and nothing special really. Then my boyfriend had the pizza margarita and I had the tenderloin. Tenderloin was very tender but again too much salt. Midway the pizza my boyfriend found a big(huge!) piece of glass in his meal. We called the waiter who apologized but did not seem really surprised(??). Since he did not come up with any way to make it up to us, I asked him whether they could at least take the pizza off the bill. After asking the manager that was okay with apologies from the kitchen. Whether we wanted any dessert? NO! After this lame apology and no effort whatsoever to make up for this huge(and dangerous) blunder, we left as soon as we could. Very disappointed about the service and food at this place. Not coming back!

Full of expectations, me and my boyfriend went to this confoco restaurant which I’ve heard so much about. Italian place… well did I tell you that I had high expectations? We had a 5 course meal and the entrée was quite boring pasta with an enormous heap of… capers! That was not even close to tasty.:-(As a seond starter we had scallops that were quite alright but not seasoned enough but that was still ok. I can’t even remember what meat I had for main, so nothing-saying …the dessert was some kind of crumple. I drenched my sorrow over this disappointment with some decent red wine. The place was soo crowded and bad ventilation and my and my date had to shout to eachother duing our visit. The light was really bad so the photos I took of te food doesn’t really cut it for Unilocal. The waiter faught really hard, trying to give everybody good service. However, we left Scarpetta quite fast after we’d finished the dessert.
