I had seen the reviews on this place before I came to Copenhagen, i liked everything I saw on Unilocal and the rave about the sandwiches. I find myself on my last night here in this beautiful city so I decided to give this place a visit. It was a good 7 – 8 minute walk from the hotel I was staying at, as I’m walking towards this place I’m already going through their menu on my phone just so I can get there, order and come back to my hotel room with my sandwich. I decide for TWO sandwiches not knowing that they’re each the size of my face. I get to the place around 9:00 at night, no one is there(meaning customers) and ordered two, so the guy starts to make them, he’s taking his time to make them, I figured that it was because I ordered two, two more people walk in and order their sandwiches. After like 10 minutes or so, the guy hands me a bag which I see and it’s big, and I pay and leave. I came back to my room, my mouth is watering and I open the bag, to my surprise there’s only one sandwich, like I said, it’s the size of my face, after a few seconds or milliseconds, I then realize that the guy behind the counter either charged me for two sandwiches and only gave me one thinking I’m a dumb tourist or he charged me for two and he forgot to give me the second one but I doubt it since I grabbed my bag, signed my credit card receipt, and walked away. Understand, their one bag look like it has 2 sandwiches inside, each sandwich would definitely take only one bag, that’s how big they are, on top of that if the guy realized that I had left my other sandwich,(if he did really make the second one) he should have called me back since I stayed outside in front for a good 30 seconds or so looking at my cell. I know, I should have checked my order before I left, but I was so hungry that I let hunger get the best of me and my wallet. I can’t lie, the sandwiches are so good, the bread is really crispy and the roast-beef and everything else they add are on point. The place is small, probably can only seat around 6 people, I’m going to have to give it 3 stars based on that iffy little situation with the two sandwiches, everything else is really good, I’ll have to dispute half of the charge with my credit card company I mean each sandwich is around $ 10, so one sandwich for $ 20 does not sound so good, these are not Katz Deli sandwiches for those prices either.

What a great find! Smagsløget prepares enormous sandwiches at a very reasonable price, even offering a student discount. After riding around town for most of the day my wife and I needed a quick, hearty lunch to see us through the rest of the afternoon and were delighted with Smagsløget. The chap making the sandwiches was exceptionally friendly and helpful and prepared a feast of a sandwich for us. Recommendation: the number 6, with turkey, cheese, mayo and a healthy collection of vegetables. Advice: there is only one person serving and making the sandwiches fresh on the spot, so be prepared to wait 10−15mins. It is worth it!

Wow!!! It is kind of pricey but the portions are enormous!!! The quality of the ingredients is superb! Best salmon ever, the house sauce is really good too, the place is cozy and clean. I would die for another awesome sandwich from here!!!

This place was a great alternative(for my wallet) from the previous day of going to Cap Horn. Don’t get me wrong about Cap Horn, food was great, service was great, but it was expensive for what my wife and I got, which was 2 small open face sandwiches, 1 beer, and 1 wine, which equaled to $ 80.00(U.S.). Ok, the location, service, and sight was worth it. Here at Smagsloget, I ordered a bbq bacon something sandwich, it was delicious and it was huge! I love to eat, a lot, and I wasn’t able to finish my sandwich! The combined price of 2 drinks and 2 sandwiches came out to about $ 15.00(U.S.). The sit down area was small, and I think we were lucky to find a seat, but that’s not the point. If I ever come back to Copenhagen again, I will definitely visit here. I’ve also referred some friends here too that were visiting.

Are you looking for a really big, tasty, and freshly made sandwich for less than 100DKK in Copenhagen? Well, this place should have your answer. This place is located not too far from the University of Copenhagen and the Torvehallerne market. What is «smagsløget»? After looking at a Danish dictionary, «smag» means«taste». «Løg» means«onion», and after using a translate tool it supposedly means«taste the onion». To the Danish people: I really hope this is an accurate translation. I asked what is their most popular sandwich, and they said it was the second option on the menu, which is the #2-B, which had roast beef, cheddar cheese, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, some red pesto and some BBQ sauce. I asked for the sandwich to be pressed so it can be toasted. I started eating this sandwich and it was excellent. It had a nice blend of flavours combined with the fresh vegetables, and the crisp bread. The size, using very rough estimates was probably little bigger than half the size of a rugby ball. It is a huge sandwich and it’s probably big enough to fill the stomachs of two grown men. I had to share my sandwich with another traveler. The price is about 65DKK, but if you have a student identification card, they will give you a 10DKK discount, so I only paid about 55DKK. This place is more of a food counter than a restaurant so one great idea is you can order your sandwich, and take it for a picnic in one of Copenhagen’s nice parks when the temperature is greater than 18 degrees Celsius. Expect to wait for about 10 – 15 minutes for them to prepare the sandwich. Overall, if you are looking for a really big and delicious sandwich at a good price in a city like Copenhagen, this place is a great choice. After eating lunch at this place, I didn’t want to eat anything until really late at night.

If you want a kick-ass sandwich, then this is your place for a kick-ass sandwich. The staff were really kind, prices unbeatable and sandwiched amazing! They even let us(3 persons) eat 30mins before opening. All round great place with a retro/deli interior design.

Smagsløget made one of the most delicious sandwiches I’ve ever had. I’ve been here twice, and while one sandwich was definitely more appealing than the other, they were both great. Wide selection of sandwiches(I think around 20) and they have special sandwiches that change occasionally. All sandwiches are made right in front of you, and it has that organized chaos feeling like many other cafes and lunch spots in Copenhagen, with staff furiously making food, while at the same time taking orders from phone and physical customers. A few tips, if I might. I think, so don’t hold me to it, they offer a discount on orders that are called in, and it seems like this is an easier option if you feel discomfort not really knowing when to order or when to pay. They also offer a student discount, so take advantage if this fits your situation. Also, as others have mentioned, it gets really busy around lunch(because it’s so good!), so take this into account if you have any place to be. Otherwise enjoy the experience and a delicious sandwich!

Convenient and hard-to-miss location, enough choices for people to pick from, and friendly staff. What’s not to like? Actually, I did have a little beef, and that’s because my sandwich took longer than quoted. I ended up waiting 20 minutes for something that they said would take 10 minutes. But other than that, it’s a place that I’d visit again for sure in the future. The sandwiches were well-made, tasted yummy(I got the salmon one, I think that was number 7) and there was more salmon in it than one would expect. They certainly don’t get all miserly with their filling. And if you end up waiting around, it’s a good location to «people watch» as you’re sitting by the window or on the bench outside their entryway.

An amazing deli that serves gigantic flavor bombs for 65kr apiece. That’s all you really need to know! There’s roughly 20 sandwiches on the menu, and everything is made right in front of you with fresh ingredients and panini presses ahoy. I had the #2-B, which was roast beef + cheddar with a metric ton of tasty bits and bobs and a really solid tangy BBQ sauce. To say I highly recommend is an understatement. This would be a great joint in the states; in Copenhagen it’s a must-do for the price, value and quality.

I can only equate this place to the Danish version of Ike’s. Huge delicious sub sandwiches with amazing ingredients. I had the #17 and it was very good! A great place for a cheap eat.

I’ll make this easy for you — in terms of taste and pounds of food per USD or DKK or whatever other metric you have, this is the best place to dine in downtown Copenhagen. Giant sandwiches made for the 6 feet tall Danish, I had not found a better place to eat in my three days in Copenhagen. They cut the sandwich in half for you, as each half makes a meal. In essence this is about $ 6 – 7USD per half, which is an incredible value. As others have mentioned, if you have a student ID on you, there is also a student discount that makes this an even better value. I got the number 1, which includes ham, brie, bacon, and a stupid amount of mayo/dressing. I ate both halves which was a huge mistake because it induce some mighty food coma almost immediately. The dining area is small so take your sandwich to go and eat it on Sortedams Sø like a true Dane. For you Americans traveling with a chip and signature(rather than PIN) credit card, this is one place that will accept you(many places use chip and PIN only). Good service with nice folks behind the counter that speak good English. Service could be faster but I’m not going to complain given the size of the sandwiches — naturally they should take longer to make! More importantly, in the face of very expensive Copenhagen prices this is an absolute standout.

They got big sandwiches. They give student discount. Got a vegetarian sandwich for 55DKK. It’s good for getting a sandwich to-go as there is not much space for eating inside. The counterman could have been more receptive. Overall good. The only thing is the paper they packed my sandwich to formed a hole and fell apart, due to moist ingredients(salad, tomatoes, cheese), so by the time I got to a bench it had turned into the form of a finger rather than a sandwich. I had to separate the ingredients from the paper that was holding it and was sticking to the food by now. I suggest ether you ask for double packing, or they employ something more robust than the paper they use now.

My favorite sandwich spot in Copenhagen! Reasonable price(student discount 55kr) and so many options! It was actually difficult choosing a sandwich, but ended up having he smoked salmon with shellfish salad. The sandwich is large enough to split with a friend, unless you’re super hungry. Definitely will be back multiple times.

I swear this is a sandwich hut sent from the heavens, I suspect Dionysus. Not that it’s a madhouse of bodies, unless it’s lunch hour. I highly recommed the items featuring pulled pork, and the spicy number containing chorizo! Bringing back spice to my life, something sorely missed here in Denmark. For the thrifty student like me, one order lasts two meals. Props to the servers! The sandwich makers here are true craftsmen at their work, and adorn each order with generous ingredients. With around 20 options, you can’t help but come back to try the entire menu… Because each sandwich possesses its own personality to be appreciated by your mouth and unsatiable stomach. If you’re a student, take advantage of the discount! Also, let’s take a moment to appreciate the bread. Not merely«sandwich bread.» It is but a BREAD perfection repurposed for Smagsloget sandwiches.

I went here 3 different times(2x in one day!) and was amazed every time. I had the: Smagsløget club sandwich Oven baked barbeque chicken Turkey & Cheddar(chili pesto) All of them were amazing but I would have to say that the last sandwich I had was the best. Just go here, you will NOT be disappointed.

Seriously, I don’t get all the rave about this place… did i order the wrong stuff? I had number six, which is baked barbeque chicken with cheddar and their sauce. I could not taste any of their sauce, the veggies are fresh, but the whole sandwich tastes ordinary. its not like something I would crave about in the next morning I woke up. I have better places of sandwiches in copenhagen in mind than this, e.g. Ma Poule and Condesa. This would NOT be the best in CPH for me. Maybe I’ll try something else and update this review, but I’m not sure if I should invest anymore money in this place.

Potentially one of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life! Hungry for lunch? You should give this place a try, it’s called taste buds for a reason. Quite hard to find, but worth the hunt. It was only locals in it when we visited and they never stopped coming through the door. They have 15 plus sandwich options all made in front of you with the best of ingredients. Most people seem to take away, but there is some seats and we found room to eat no problem at all. I had a «number 6» and it was tremendous. Smokey BBQ chicken, melted cheese, fresh crisp lettuce, homemade sandwich spread and bread toasted to perfection. As sandwich shops go this is as about as good as it gets. Great food and friendly staff. Just keep hunting for it you will find that hidden staircase eventually and most importantly… Enjoy!

Oh my sandwich!!! If your visit Copenhagen this place is a must. Not much on the décor very basic. An extensive list of sandwiches you can choose to sit in or take away! Special homemade sandwich cream spicy tuna packed with salad far too good! Around lunch time this place can get very busy so be quick! A Copenhagen Must!

For Copenhagen, this little spot is a hidden but favorite gem of the locals and students alike. Toppings are incredibly fresh, portion is American-sized, and prices are extremely reasonable(60−75kr, or about 50−65kr after student discount). All toppings are free(this seems unheard of in CPH). Dine in or dine out, but wait is kind of long when they make your sandwiches and you may be hard-pressed to find an open seat… out of the 8 total available in there. Get a sandwich here and go do your touristy thing. Go to a park and eat the sandwich there with a Somersby. Seriously. You can also book and view the menu at . HOWTOGETHERE Get off at Nørreport and head towards Irma. Keep walking down and take a left at the 7 – 11. It’s right next to Rhino Bar. TL;DR: best value and quality sandwiches in Copenhagen, opt for take-out instead of dine-in. Ask for the student discount. Opens for lunch and through dinnertime. Lots of sandwich variety. Can also order online and check out the menu at .
