Very cozy little square in heart of Østerbro, lined with trees providing shade on a summer’s day, giving this place an almost southern European feel to it. Add to that the two restaurants with outdoor serving, one French, one Italian(and never the twain shall meet), and you have a little bit of Rome, Provence, or the Amalfi coast, right here in Copenhagen. The name of the square is a bit controversial. It was originally named«Hjertepladsen»(Heart Square), which is lovely and poetic. Then, in 2002, it was decided by the city to rename it after the neighbourhood’s most famous son, comedian and musician Victor Borge, born only a stone’s throw from here, as Børge Rosenbaum. Of course, there are still long-time residents who refuse to accept the name change, much like New York City’s Ed Koch Bridge/59th Street Bridge/Queensborough Bridge debacle. Which only adds to the charm of the place.
