We enjoyed our brief visit to Skodsborg. The evening meal(in part a barbecue) was very good and we really appreciated the thoughtful, courteous and attentive service. We were also impressed by the reception staff. And there was a wonderful view of the sea from our room. Having said that, Skodsborg is not on a par with some of the spa hotels /health resorts in the UK(such as Ragdale Hall or Champneys): * although the food was good the place did not offer a health menu as such,(the breakfast — which is very highly rated in some reports on a rival website to Unilocal — was fine but not exceptional. It was little different to that offered in the better city centre hotels. And they stop serving at 10.00 at weekends. I tentatively asked about the possibility of a boiled egg at 10.02 and was abruptly told«we’re closing now») * we(and other guests) were not advised in advance that the large spa pool was closed for renovation and that many of the better spa facilities were reserved for other guests on a different(and more expensive) package * Skodsborg advertises itself as smoke-free but that seems to mean that smoking is OK so long as people lean out of a window or go a few millimetres onto a balcony. Unthinkable these days for a health facility in most developed countries. * the hotel rooms are rather small and basic. Ibis style. That’s OK is you are booking a room at an Ibis . So — not at all bad(and some excellent features) — but could do a heck of a lot better
