Are you a tourist? Do you need to find a gift to a loved one? Are you a chocolate snob? Do you love dark chocolate– the darker, the better? If you answered yes to one or all four questions(like me), I recommend a stop here. Their dark chocolate bark was delicious. They have a great variety to meet all your chocolate needs, addictions, and styles. It’s conveniently next door to a keychain-and-magnet shop, if you’re in need of a non-edible souvenir(but who really cares about those items?)

What a delicious little shop. Filled with a wide variety of chocolate barks, truffles and other yummies.

Der wahrscheinlich leckerste Laden in Garmisch. Freundliches Personal, sauberer, schön eingerichteter Laden. Aber das Wichtigste: die leckere Schokolade. Man darf auch probieren. Mein Favorit: Bruchschokolade Orange/Erdbeer — ein Muß.

Great selection and super cute figurines. Lots of gifts in various price points. You can definitely get a take away without breaking the bank. The place is small so it gets crowded quickly. There is a downstairs section but it looked more like overflow than different items.

Adorable ladybug chocolates &VW Bugs in the windows, Amelie was a treat to the eyes & mouths in a variety of ways Dark Chocolate Bark w/Karamelle — there was a smoothness to the dark chocolate. Just a hint of bitterness & the crystallized caramel bits were like a dusting of sugar. Loved it! Also indulged in their Mayan Chocolate Truffle — dark chocolate truffle dusted w/the a nice chili powder. Sweet truffle taste that has just a slight kick in the aftertaste. Wished we had had about 10 more of these Mom chose the Black Forest Bark — dark chocolate bark w/kirsch cherries — loved the contrast of the sweet chocolate & the sour cherries Daddy chose the Milk Chocolate /Macadamia bark & it was creamy & had lots of nuts Also saw chocolate dentures & other fun shapes & forms made from chocolate — very whimsical & fun!

Having just recently been to Belgium and Switzerland, I found Amelie’s chocolate to be entirely average. Not at all bad, but it’s nothing special. Much like Hershey’s chocolate, it’s good and it satisfies, but you’ll never crave it. I can’t speak for the truffles, which had some pretty fantastic names like«Ludwig III».

I like chocolate. I am not a connoisseur, but I do tend to seek out local chocolates when I travel. I’ve been all over Europe and Asia and a little bit of the US. This is the best chocolate I’ve yet found. It’s soft and smooth and rich with nuanced, involving chocolate flavor. Nom nom. This is a small, family shop. They make their own chocolates. They have a piece with Amaretto and a pecan in a dark chocolate shell that is practically worth a trip to Garmisch by itself. In addition to the usual variety of individual pieces, they make haystacks and bark and sell gift packets. Importantly, they take regular VISA and MasterCard — no EC card required! The people are sweet and helpful. The store is super cute. You probably don’t need to speak German. I suspect it’s enough to point and rub your tummy. This is as good as it gets, in my world.
