Saigon is delicious. Not sure if it’s «authentic» but, it’s a huge change to the same menu at most restaurants in Germany and its yummy. Very fresh tasting. We usually get the spring rolls as an appetizer and change things up for our main course. Everything is tasty. Downside? The service. Super slow. We once sat for an hour before getting our drinks and then waiting another hour before our food came out. Ugh. Even with poor service, we go back for the food. Highly recommend making reservations as they fill up pretty quick(and the restaurant is small) and get there early so you’re not waiting all night for food.

Needed a Phở fix and got it! Be it that where I’m from, there are plethora of authentic Vietnamese cuisine, but here in Germany, especially in Kaiserslautern, this is really about the best you will get. The only reason why it’s 4 star is due to the price. Sure will go back though!

Authentic and amazing! This is a truly great Vietnamese restaurant. I was initially skeptical, but the awesome service and food won me over. Great work!(Tip: Bring cash — they usually don’t accept a card for less than € 20.)

The Phở was Great! My friend and I were looking for a place on Unilocal and were very happy to find this place. It lived up to its expectations! Would recommend this place to anyone.

Terrible service is an understatement. I was harassed by the man there and the woman in the back came out to harass me again when we tried to leave. They even refused to let us just pay the check and leave after I repeatedly told her we just want to pay and leave. She was hostile and demanded I speak to her in Vietnamese. I’m a customer! Let me define it for you since they do not seem to understand. From Wikipedia, «Harassment(/hræsmnt/or /hærsmnt/) covers a wide range of behaviours of an offensive nature. It is commonly understood as behaviour intended to disturb or upset, and it is characteristically repetitive. In the legal sense, it is intentional behaviour which is found threatening or disturbing.» Here’s what went down: Everyone ordered and it was my turn so I asked the waitress what was good. She couldn’t answer so I asked if they have any chao(rice porridge). Chao was the only Vietnamese word I spoke. She replied with she’s not Vietnamese so I just looked in the menu real fast and ordered seafood fried rice. I made a sarcastic comment to my husband and our friend«this is original Vietnamese for you.» Half way through our meal, the man overheard me teaching our friend how to say thank you in Vietnamese so he came over and spoke to me in Vietnamese. It was not a friendly conversation. He immediately asked about my comment that the waitress overheard. I told him about the restaurant in Landstuhl and he didn’t even know where the city is nor Ramstein. I asked him about the selection or lack thereof of Phở and how there’s no bun bo hue and he said it was because we’re in Germany. Ok, I’ll give you that. Fine, let me get back to my dinner companions. Granted, I made that comment before I got my food, but after receiving it, I can definitively say, it’s not good Vietnamese. My seafood fried rice was mushy and very salty. The«squid» tasted like fat. The«crab» was the imitation crab and there were only three shrimps. Worst of all, there was egg shell in the fried rice. My husband’s phở was decent according to him but he drenches everything in sriracha. Our friend’s duck dish was fine but it did not meet his expectations. The only dish that they enjoyed was the spring rolls. When I asked for the check, the man went to the back and got the woman and from the look of it I knew I was going to get a lashing out. She came over and immediately started the whole thing that the man was harassing me about earlier. I flat out refused to speak to her since she kept demanding I speak to her because according to her I was requesting to speak to someone Vietnamese. I repeatedly and politely asked her to give us our check so we can leave. I even stated that they were harassing me. They timed it perfectly because we were the last ones there. You can bet your life that I will never come back or recommend anyone to come here. If you want Vietnamese food, check out Orchidee in Landstuhl. It says Thai but there’s a selection of Vietnamese food and the chef is Vietnamese. The owner is very friendly and attentive and the food is good. The spring rolls are awesome. We’ve been there twice and had a pleasant experience each time. I’m excited about going back there now that I will be working in Landstuhl. **The take out container is empty because I transferred the rice to a microwave safe container.

Winter is Coming. Actually…winter is here. And I am not a fan. Moving to Germany from Savannah has been an adventure. I was prepared to adjust… new language, new rules, new food… I was NOT prepared for the weather. This cold situation is out of control. Thankfully, I have Saigon, and their warm-you-to-your-bones phở to make me feel better. Their broth is delicious, distinct from any phở I’ve had before(I think they use cinnamon) and it sets them apart from any Vietnamese place I’ve been before. They only have one kind of phở, but really, it’s all you need. And you won’t find the typical lime/jalapeño/cilantro add-ins, but I honestly don’t miss them. Grubbing down on this amazing soup chases away the winter chill. Oh…and did I mention they have AMAZING spring rolls? And that their coffee with sweetened condensed milk is worth every last calorie? It is like drinking a shot of melted, warm Jamoca Almond Fudge ice cream… in the best way possible. Oh, and lucky for all you non-driving kids, Siagon is conveniently located within walking distance of the K-Town train station. Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the phở is so delightful!

I recently had jas surgery and needed some PHO like immediately… Trying to eat through a straw is horrible but someone recommended this place and I thought to give it a try. They were super helpful even after telling me I couldn’t take the Phở home, since I normally blend my food. I instead drank the brought while my husband ate everything else. ice coffee with condense milk was divine and I ended up taking some of it home to mix with ice cream and ensure as another meal for me… My husband loved the fried rice with beef, chicken and pork and we took another order to go home… Will definitely be back again especially when I can chew my food again… Highly recommend… Gave it four stars because I really wanted to take the PHO home but I understand why it is not recommend by the owners… It would also be nice if they had other PHO choices but again loved the menu.

First Asian restaurant I’ve been to in germany. Being from h-town it loses it’s luster with just one phở choice. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either.

Great place for your Vietnamese food fix. Being a phở lover, I was hoping for a more traditional styles deluxe phở. Instead the phở was pretty basic with basic ingredients. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a delicious bowl but it just didn’t have any of the deluxe ingredients you’d find in your typical phở back in the states. The pineapple duck was amzingggg! Great flavor, awesome plating, but could have used a touch more of a serving. Overall great place.

I visited this restaurant while visiting family in Germany. This was my first time eating Vietnamese food and I was very pleased with my experience. The food was great and the owner and staff were very polite since my cousins were pretty much regulars there. :) I am a huge fan now and can’t wait to try more Vietnamese restaurants when back in America.

My friends and I love this place. We are frequent regulars. We love the fresh spring rolls and the sauce is amazing! Then order the beef phở, sooo good. It’s really hard to find an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Germany but this place is it! This is a tiny restaurant, family owned, so when it is very busy(which it is, esp on the weekends), expect to wait a while, but it’s worth it. Highly recommend you make reservations early, esp. for large groups. Parking is a little difficult, so expect to look for some free spaces around the neighborhood or at the train station.

Great place to eat and very patient server. The menu items are numbered for easy ordering in any language(the owner’s English/German is a valiant effort, but like I mentioned — patient!). iPhone users, beware! A search on Maps results in two Saigons. One of these, Saigon Bistro on Schmiedstraße, is the former location and no longer exists. The Saigon on Eisenbahnstraße is correct and delicious! It is near the train station, if that helps. Eat well!

I grew up around Little Saigon in So Cal for most of my life so I am well aware of what good Vietnamese food should taste like and surely Viet food has become more or less a necessity for me. I live right near the Golden Drach in Landstuhl and I used to think that it was the best Viet food in the KL area but then I tried this place… wowwwww. Best Phở I’ve had in Germany, HANDSDOWN! The cha gio(vietnamese spring/egg rolls) was pretty darn good too. The owner was very pleasant and loved to talk about his food. Overall, great experience and great food. Also, it was very decently priced.

I’m Asian and have eaten at many Vietnamese restaurants around the world. This is one of the best! Always fresh and delicious. Whenever I’m in the area, I want to stop here and eat. The owner is very friendly and there is a nice patio in the back. Highly recommended!
