I stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment on Hohenzollernring, rented for 1 week during DRUPA in Duessledorf. The apart consisted of a(Double bed) bedroom, good sized, modern bathroom, combined living and kitchen area, see photos on the Arthouse web site. Paid € 569 per week, incl. all expenses, electricity and 7% VAT weekly cleaning, sheets and towels plus a final cleaning € 56. There is also a 200 Euro deposit which is returned at end of rental period. This was returned to me within 1 week. Apartment is one floor up from lobby. There is a small elevator, if needed to bring in your luggage. This Apartment(1st fl.) does not face the busy Hohenzollernring street, so is pretty quiet in back of bldg. You can cook a little bit-small stove and oven too. Small sink, no dishwasher. There are plates, pots and pans, and coffee maker, glasses, even egg cups… Small apart sized fridge/ice. Easy to open the many large, tall, windows for ventilation. There is no AC however. Plenty of heat. There is no microwave. Bedding and towels are provided. No soap or detergent /sponges are provided. Also has a clothes washer, but no drying machine I think(All is in German!). There is a large sofa in Living room, which can sleep someone in a pinch. Closet space is ample in bdrm. Plenty of hot water. Good plumbing. Towel driers are in bathroom, a very nice feature! Lighting is a bit dim, esp. at night. Only real issue we had was we had no TV/cable access during the stay,(There was a nice flat screen TV in the living room and also in bedroom, but had no reception at all.) since there was some confusion about the cable access and setup. There was also some construction going on in the building while we were there, starting at 8 am, but not for long. This apart. location is quite good in Koln, especially for shopping, restaurants, nightlife, and access to the Freisenplatz Underground stop, which is only 1 block away. It is quite a busy area near Freizenplatz, lots of restaurants(Mostly Ethnic ones, Italian, Mexican, Cuban etc etc.)(Not many traditional German ones near this apart. though) There is a Starbucks, just 1 block away. There is small Grocery store just downstairs for eggs, milk, cheese and bread and a Drug store right on the block. There is a large supermarket only 2 blocks away. There is a very good small bakery in Friesenplatz and a nice Intl. cheese shop as well. It takes about 5 min to get to Koln –Hauptbahnhof, and the Dom area, or you can walk it in about 10 – 15 min. I commuted to the the Messe in Duesseldorf each day by regional train. Very safe and clean area generally. Very Good transportation access.
