Ice cream: it serves two purposes: 1. Getting over a breakup or fight with a loved one. 2. Bribing kids into behaving. I have used both this Ciao! and the one in Forum for purpose #2. For #1, I prefer my therapists, Ben and Jerry. Should you find yourself at Snadistadi god bless you you martyr of a parent or grandparent or whatever you are, and your kid is a zombie/ticking time bomb, CIao! is located right upstairs on the main level of the Ruoholahti shopping mall. Giant case full of delicious and tempting treats for you and your little train wreck await! Joking aside, this Ciao! is actually a nice place to stop for a quiet coffee, salad, or ice cream if you happen to be in the area anyway. It’s much quieter than the center Ciao! Cafes and they really do have great gelato-y ice cream. Pass on the watermelon. It might be the most rancid thing I’ve ever had the displeasure of putting in my mouth. My recommendations: hazelnut or lime mascarpone. Can’t go wrong there. They also have a good selection of smoothies and juices should that be the sort of thing you’re into.

You can’t miss this roomy coffee shop on the ground floor of the Ruoholahti shopping center. The selection here is great! I came for the coffee but they have so much more. The ingredients for the salads look really tasty, and very affordable. Mmm the ice cream was tempting. Also sandwiches to choose from. But I’ll have to sample those another day — just a latte on this trip. This place is part of a chain so I expect the selection and pricing is similar throughout Helsinki. Nice place to take a breather from the other shopping center activities :)

Friendly service, good location. My croissant was a bit burned, but I was warned about it before hand. I took it since it was the last one. It was still good! :)
