Look out Amica, there’s competition just around the corner. Anyone familiar with Finnish lunch restaurants knows that customers are fickle, and will trade their loyalties quick than you can say lunch voucher! The previous tenant shut shop earlier in the spring of 2013, and customers were left with slim pickings when it came to a proper lunch place. Imagine my surprise when entering The Factory for the first time. Gone were the tired tables and dusty artificial plants. The whole room has been given a make-over and now looks like that trendy cousin who is always dressed in up-to-the-minute fashion. The salad bar looks enticing, although I haven’t seen anyone take anything from there yet. No, the buffet(buffee in Factory lingo) seems to be keeping everybody happy at the moment. Today’s offering was a choice of salmon, lasagne, or vegetable soup. Starter salads, pan-fried new potatoes and steamed vegetables completed the menu. Best of all, the newly reopened Factory offer a different pizza every day. Today was chicken with Aura cheese. Always a winning combo! Dessert isn’t offered everyday. Today was on off day, yesterday’s apple crumble and chocolate ice-cream was a good end to the meal. Naturally tea and coffee are included in the lunch price, as is sparkling water from the tap. If you’d prefer a bubble-free lunch, there are more than enough water bottles available to have a couple on your table. Good home style cooking in a trendy atmosphere, although not so trendy to scare people off. It’s a winner in my book. + Sparkling water from the tap. — Salad bar more pricey than the buffet lunch.
