Small but Mighty. That’s Kalevan Kirppis. My assertion that everything is overpriced and subpar at the shopping centers and department stores here in Helsinki is as strong as ever. I have taken it upon myself to sniff out good deals all on my own and the kirppi(plural for Kirppis?) around the city. Just this week I found some Diesel stretch jeans with a price tag of 129e still attached, two brand new Carter’s sleepers for 1e each, and new-condition Ugg boots for 35e and 10e each. Unfortunately the Uggs were not in my size. Uggs run around 300e/pair here, so these were particularly fabulous finds. I may just cut my toes off and go back to buy them. Lots of good finds(Rock and Republic, Converse, 7 for all Mankind, Diesel, Sand, etc…) mixed in with the usual old H&M crap that –let’s admit it– should just be donated to people who actually need it instead of trying to sell it used. Nice kid working the place, super nice and helped with getting my mammoth pram into the itty bitty store through the itty bitty doorway at the top of the itty bitty stairway :) Go here. Great deals in a tiny place on a quiet street.
